Re: Changing up The Bike For 2023
In 2006 I traded my GSXR1000 for my first 990 Superduke, people thought I was mad, until we went out for a blast! Until then, naked such as Bandits & Hornets looked the business but had lesser spec suspension and de-tuned motors. Imagine if Honda had sold the Hornet with a full power Fireblade m...

Re: Parking Lights...
On bikes with hazard lights, switching to parking lights let's you leave the hazards on and removing the ignition key too.
Handy if you're helping someone who broken down and want to leave the bike down the road warning others.

Yep, still here Layne, watching from time to time.
Fair Oak, got really greasy after they re-surfaced it. Used to be fun though, bit of a shock right after Wiscomb.

Re: Hartland Quay Hillclimb, 2-10-22
Funny someone should mention X7s. My old X7 at 33 secs, my Dads old X7 at 1:48, which I bought back 23 years later from the chap riding it in the video. My Dad on the YZ490 at 7:11 (no 73). I wasn't riding that meeting as broke my leg earlier that year, won the 250 class the year before but was watc...

Re: Naked twins, triples or inline 4s...
+1 for the SD being roomy. I've smashed my knee a couple of times & found the SD really comfy (knee-wise). Did try a friends Z1000 but found the footrest was slightly less rear-set & was cramped for me. Also consider the FZ1 N (naked) or Fazer, I gave mine a little more room by swapping the ...

Re: taking an enforced break.
Haven’t been on here for a day or so, only just seen this.
Hope you recover as soon as expected, let me know if you want any reading material- working in Redruth now so can drop anything in after work.
If you can still work a kettle can swing round one evening.

Had to do an absolutely (not) necessary journey when I got home. 1:6 hill on my road, no way was the car going anywhere!

Re: ACU and bike sport
ACU - Almighty Cock Up. As above, the ACU is a bureaucratic mess who seem to make anything as difficult as possible to keep themselves in a job. Just look at any AMCA event and you will see lower entry fees, better organisation and support with true bike events for riders feel. You can tell who's be...

Re: Fancy France in May
If you're heading down the West coast, look at the D785 from Morlaix to Quimper - nice start to the journey, like Dartmoor without speed limits & with sunshine. Cuts off the corner somewhat too. Even worth a detour if coming back early, head to Brest at Rennes & pick up the D785 again. https...

Also understand Tesco are doing GT85 for £2.25 per 400ml tin.
And I thought I was doing well getting a box of a dozen for £30 via a trade contact.

Re: Reasonable multibike insurance
Kwacky - what's the other bike you have, see you have a 650 Versys but what's the other? There's not many multi-bike insurers in the market and some have very wierd 'pillion use' restrictions (eg 1st Gen Busa OK, 2nd Gen not OK!) - my money's on this being the reason they cancelled. It may be a case...

Re: Anyone Fancy A Week or so Away 15th April?
Stayed in Salamana en route the Algarve a few years back.
Very easy to get to same afternoon from late pm Santander ferry (at that time).
City looked nice, didn't hang around next day as wanted to get to Med that day.

Re: Doomed
Is there a mechanical method of dis-arming the alarm like on Data-Tool:
Ignition on, indicators flash 'x' number of times, ign off, ign back on 'x' flashes, ign off etc.
Presuming you know your special flash number code - but if never set, may be able to use default code.

Re: Who remembers Andy Ibbott?
Like Moose said, I remember him from magazines & the CSS.
I'm just amazed he's not been snapped up within the motorcycle industry, either as a coach or mentor in something like Talan Skeels-Piggins project or even in the sales/manufacturer side - feel he has so much experience going to waste.
