ROTOMOTO Cancellation 24th March

Dear all, I'm sorry to let you know that we have had to cancel the first Rotomoto for the above date due to a serious illness in the family of the main organiser. Please pass on to anybody you know who may have been going along, and I'll let you all have details of forthcoming events. Kind regards, ...

I know John and did some biker safety work with him last year. He's a great bloke but don't stand next to him in a photograph!!

Start the new season with roto-moto!

Hi all. Just a quick reminder about the roto-moto courses being run by Somerset Road Safety Motorcycle Unit this year. The first date is on Sunday 24th March, and is at Merryfields nr Ilton. No better way to start the season than with a bit of a skills brush up and a good laugh to boot - only £20 fo...

Re: Somerset Road Safety - Courses 2013

Re: Sound checks - yep as you know they do them, but as long as its not too outrageous, there are ways and means of taking a reading at different locations if you follow my drift..... After all, it is a day to improve rider and machine awareness :D

Hi all, Here are the course dates for stuff we are either running or supporting this year: RotoMoto - low speed bike handling skills through a series of challenges against the clock - you are are only trying to beat your own time, not others! All will be held at Merryfield near Ilton, and the dates ...

Re: FREE BIKER FIRST AID COURSE!!

Glad those who attended enjoyed it, and it was good to meet you. I have one more course in the pipeline for 2012, hopefully will be able to do it late October or early November. As I mentioned in the initial post, I may be able to offer it to non-Somerset bikers by way of a 'donation' to course. I'l...

Re: Bikesafe

Wouldn't be so sure about getting nicked. Look at it this way, the instructions say you should turn up on a road legal bike and wear appropriate, legal kit. If you are not going to bother to follow a basic set of rules, what's the point in going on a bike safe course anyway? Better off going on a ma...

That would work for me mate. Check out somersetroadsafety.org and find the bike page for details of courses. Let me know if you have any difficulties locating the page.

Re: Free - Motorcyclists first aid course

I will be one of the team putting the course together and promise you it is very worthwhile. No big deal about Somerset v Devon, its just that the funding comes from Somerset council tax payers so its only right they get preference. Look at it another way, if you live in Devon, put their road safety...

Re: RoSPA Assessment Ride

Mate, you can always borrow mine! We met very briefly when you were having your debrief with Jim. I can tell you he is one of the best assessors I have ever come across and due to him, my riding has come on bundles. Don't get hung up on grades etc, bottom line is anything you do that makes riding a ...

Re: Magical Leathers

I will go with freedom of choice as long as hospital bills and health professionals fees are paid by the casualty who chose not to wear protective kit. Oh, I'd also refuse any medication for the pain, and skin grafts.
And I don't like badgers, but thats another story.....

I work with a damn fine chap named Jim Newman at Somerset Road Safety, and we do all sorts of biker events across the County. My work bike is a Kwacker GTR all covered in road safety stickers a...
