Re: Cam Chain Tensioner
I had these replaced on my ZX6 a few months ago, and £120 is pretty much spot on what I was charged. It made a world of difference too, completely changed the front end feel of the bike.Primate wrote:
Only thing is now the head bearings have gone!!! Been quoted £120 to put new one's in.

Re: How are you preparing for winter?
Good to see I'm not the only one who will keep on going. It's not the cold I'm worried about, it's the horrible and frankly dangerous rain.
Anyway my bike decided not to start today, even with hours trying to suss out the problem, so all of this could end up pointless after all!

Re: Newbie from Poole
Welcome from a fellow newbie. I live in Bournemouth, but the OH lives in Poole, so I'm a regular over your way. Keep an eye out for me on a bright green ninja, and I'll give an over enthusiastic wave if I do see you braving the weather

Re: How are you preparing for winter?
Will make sure I ACF the hell out of it, especially as the bike is actually in good nick for 45,000 miles.
Annoyingly the hose is as far away from my bike as it could be on the outside of my house, but I'm sure I can run it round and give it a hose down after longer runs.

Re: Buying a new Helmet any time soon?
I got it, but then again I'm a young'un. Just checked the site and my helmet is a 4 star. To be fair I just went for a mix between style, comfort and cost. It's was when I first started biking, so when I come to replace it ill likely take note of the ratings and aim for a 5 star. However, I won't be...

Re: How are you preparing for winter?
Ah I didn't know it was best to wax rather than lube, good to know. I don't mean cheap waterproof kit, but rather second hand eBay stuff. Both my current textile jackets were second hand, and are surprisingly good, but could do with something that has a better fit. I've heard good things about stuff...

How are you preparing for winter?
Good evening all. Well it's that time again, and I'm just considering what to do to get myself prepared for the awful weather. Due to leaving my on recently, I'm looking at other positions that may wel be further afield. I will therefore not simply be able to leave the bike at home and use a bus if ...

Re: Hello from Bournemouth
The hill climb to Portland is like a race course.great fun, if a bit terrifying.
I'll have to start keeping an eye out for people.

Re: VITAL ID - Rider ID for bikers
Have to agree this sort of thing is a great idea. My other half wears medic alert bracelets due to her ongoing heart condition. Will consider buying a set for herself for when she comes pillion. For those with specific requirements, alerting the emergency services ASAP of such things can only be a g...

Re: Long Term Street Parking
If i were you i'd look into a cheap alarm. I've put a Cyclone V2 on my bike, simply wired into the battery and that's it. It's very loud, and when i've had people touch or try and sit on my bike before, it has definitely scared them off. I team this with a huge chain and a disc lock, oh and a cover....

Hello from Bournemouth
Good evening all. Stumbled across this forum while searching for some heated grip info, and thought i'd sign up. My name's Troy, i'm 24 and I live in Bournemouth, which is perhaps the furthest east of the south west, but there are never any forums/choices on web forms for just south! I've been ridin...
