Re: Hi all!

Suzy X1 for me and although I had fun I would hate to go back to it now. I fell off so many times but not once when I got a GP100 and didn't need to keep the throttle open all the time or risk slowing down and getting hit by a milk float.

Re: Hi all!

Don't be ashamed of that bike. I challenge anyone in here not to have fun if they try riding a good 125 even after a superbike. They may not be fast but on the road they are much more fun than a fast bike due to the extra challenges and flickability. I'd choose naked for the weight saving but there ...

Re: Reasonable multibike insurance

The admiral multi car seems to be easy to change although as with you they charge more for a lower group vehicle. I will get them to quote on the bike as well but will probably stick with separate policies (although when a car and two bikes get smashed up by a drunk driver when they were parked befo...

Re: Welsh Road Races August 4th-5th

I edited the message as I found the video after posting but I was probably too late for most of you to see. As Steve Plater said it looks almost perfect apart from three or four trees and some barriers which will need padding and the worst of those are on straights. Definitely looks like a winner to...

Re: Welsh Road Races August 4th-5th

Just seen the video so ignore this bit: Can anyone see or work out which roads will be raced? I see some roads around there but nothing which seems to add up to the right distance. I wanted to look at the roads on Street View to see what the racing might be like and whether spectators will get good ...

Re: Reasonable multibike insurance

I agree with the comments above. I found it cheaper with two bikes to do separate policies.

On the free recovery check the conditions as some have an age limit. I can't remember which.

Re: I know it's getting into the winter season

A few tweaks on the bike (new rack, new USB, new front tyre and general check over) are all I have planned before going to Spain for 9 days (plus a day each end for ferry). Planning to stick to north and west of Madrid as there seems plenty to experience without going further. Actually, I think I ha...

Re: Ratchet tie-downs and trailers.

No, thanks. Got myself a garage and a good trailer so I'm ready for anything now. It's nice to be able to drive up to Clevedon, stay overnight and then ride from there onwards. I hate the A30/M5 on a bike.

Re: Ratchet tie-downs and trailers.

I was young and ignorant (and didn't care because it wasn't my bike and the trip was short)! I have always used looped ones for use with boats etc. and although fiddly they make me feel happier.

Re: Ratchet tie-downs and trailers.

I would second not using hook straps mostly as already explained because they can bang around during fitting if you are a bit tired or distracted which I normally am at the end of a day. I had to buy straps in a rush (having used looped tie downs in the past) and do not like the hooked ones as much ...

Probably should give a clue on general area at least so those who are near enough can decide. We are on Dartmoor for a couple of days then so probably not for us.

Re: Going Round Corners

... and on the road it is definitely not a good idea to assume that the braking point you pick or the route you expect to take will be the ones you end up using. So best a lot of the time just to stay central on the bike ready for anything?
