Re: Castle Combe 8th July 2026
That's a shame Rob, I've been watching your videos from your visit last year, and was looking forward to trying (and failing) to keep up. As you've said some of the lines are interesting, but your lap times are good, and it's clear that you are carrying good corner speed, and in particular are back ...

Re: Multi-bike insurance recommendations.
I'd insure it separately. I had 3 bikes on a multi-bike policy, including my BMW K1300S. When I replaced the BMW with my newer KTM SD GT, they wouldn't put that on the Multi-Bike. Ended up having to insure it on it's own, with no NCD, which was massively expensive. Especially annoying as I'd had sep...

Re: rain?
I've managed 4 or 5 runs out since Christmas. I don't mind the rain so much, and feel it keeps me a sharper and in better practice generally. I don't like it when it's really cold, one of the runs during the Christmas break was about 2-3 deg, and I was struggling after 1.5 hours, and riding noticeab...

Re: Castle Combe 8th July 2026
I'll probably do one or two at Combe this year but it'll be via MPS motorsport. https://www.facebook.com/share/184WFRk8Tf/ Just an around better day than Combe run days. Hi Phil, why do you think they are better than Combe run days? I'm really curious, as I'm likely to give them a try as well, and ...

Re: Castle Combe 8th July 2026
No Need just read this thread and actually i am hoping to be able to do some more track days this year and considering how close Castle Coombe is and also helpful that its just round the corner from my sister in law so no need for a hotel.... I have done the track once and was very bad as my lines ...

Thanks for the info, I didn't know that. I won't hold my breath then, and just keep looking a little further afield.

Re: Castle Combe 8th July 2026
I'm also booked in for 8th July, along with 5 May, 3 Jun and 22nd July. I enjoy Combe, although I do like to try out other venues, the travel makes them more expensive and time consuming. I'm hoping the rumours of Bike track days at Thruxton for 2026 are true, but I've not found any dates yet? Likel...

Re: 4th Dimension etc
For my claim in October, I was with Carole Nash, and their claim line also sent me direct to 4th Dimension. They did all the usual of offering a hire bike and storage etc. I had ridden my bike home after the crash, so knew it was still rideable, and decided to resist using 4th Dimension. They were p...

Re: Top box
Never had much of a problem with top-box. I find it is far enough back to not really get in the way. If I'm having a particularly inflexible day, then standing on the pegs to get on or off, is easy. I find panniers much worse, as they are further forward and can lead to getting your foot caught in t...

Re: Who's got some winter projects on the go then?
Famous last words. Pulled out the sump plug on the Benelli to find a stray gear tooth stuck to the magnet. Striped out the clutch to find the culprit.

Now starts the search for suitable parts.

New bike day
My BMW K1300S was written of recently in a SMIDSY incident between Umberleigh and Great Torrington, so I've been on the lookout for a replacement. Despite their financial woes, I really wanted a KTM Superduke GT and have just managed to find a good one. Hope to see you out on it on a rideout soon. T...
