Re: OS Maps

In fairness, if you just want to go out for a potter in the lanes, getting a bit lost from society, a full-on trail bike is possibly not necessary though it will make your life a chunk easier, as has been said. Plenty of people do things like the Exeter or Lands End trial on old brit roadbikes and a...

Re: OS Maps

I prefer "Memory Maps" to the OS version. It still uses OS mapping but has better features. Buy at the right time and you can get full UK 1;25k mapping on a perpetual licence for £50-60. As for finding the lanes themselves, the cheapest way is the county definitive map, but takes quite a b...

Re: I knew annual oil change recommendations were BS.

Agreed but some service schedules I certainly do not agree with. When I was in the motor trade the only cars we had major issues with were the ones on "long-life" servicing running 25k miles or 24months. Amount of these breathing heavily or increased carbon deposits. 1.6hdi peugeot engine...

Re: Advice on a route to Southampton

My only comment is it depends on what time you have available. Even the most direct route (A35/A31) it's a 2 - 2.5 hour ride min, and at this time of year even on a bike, traffic will increase that, so if you're only "popping up for an evening" it' could literally be just a cuppa then on y...

i thought it was just the journo was a bit old and couldn't remember the term PCSO, either way, the civvies are out there using (non)calibrated tools to get you nicked it would seem. PCSO's are full time employed members of the force, they just have slightly less powers than a full police officer. ...

Me too. Does anyone local know if the original access to the Double Locks via Alphinbrook Road and Clapperbrook Lane east has now re-opened? https://www.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=pfbid03446PiaNFgxmPH1XSD6ipBtFzxhxZcm63i6eBis6Hd77Ymsctmb1K7ZijzazQ7f8Wl&id=100063628761096&post_id=1000...

Re: standard mirrors Vs bar end mirrors

I've got Oberon bar end mirrors on the TL. Better than nothing and give a vibration free image. Most aftermarket bar end mirros look a bit pants, but the Oberons arent too bad - they come in two sizes as well.

Distance wise, it's only about 125 miles as the crow flies, top to bottom? Timewise though, it's a very different story - try driving Cardiff to Conwy in a van and it'll be 5-6hrs minimum

Re: look to the sky, as pigs can now fly :0)

So was the blanket speed limit of 70mph in the 1970's. ........ I very much I doubt the drone could capture a number plate so unless the motorist can be stopped (or captured on a ground based camera unit) then no action could be taken. Whilst I agree I'm not sure on how a drone could be used to pro...

George Orwell was not wrong. He was a little previous with his date perhaps; but, folks, the erosion of civil liberties he described is creeping up on us all.
