Front brake light & oil??

Post by Dylan »

Hey
I've got to MOT my GSR-R400 soon and there are couple of concerns. (1989 E-Reg)
I've just discoverd that my brake light doesnt function when I use my front brake? Any ideas, bearing in mind I'm not too clued up on bike electrics or mechanics.
And for a service what kind of oil is best for my bike? It's covered in 'Silcolene' decals so maybe that gives it away, but thought I'd check in case they are just for decoration.
Think I need to rear pads too...
Joys of motoring eh
All the breast

Front brake- there's normally two wires that plug into a little microswitch behind the lever, check these are plugged in/still in one piece and that the switch clicks properly. If not that it could be one of the rear light bulbs has blown a filament or another electrical fault.

As for oil, pretty much any make of oil will be fine, just make sure its the correct viscosity (usually 10w40) and is motorbike specific (i.e. NOT car oil!).You dont need the most expensive synthetic racing oil, any basic one will do.
Bikeless again :/
