Wheel help!

Post by thelastsuperpower »

After my trackday mishap im now after some replacement wheels for my ninja
Does anyone (jam?) know if any zx6r wheels will fit a 98-00 zx9r?
Im basically trying to widen my search and all i know so far are the wheel codes f1374 and r1375.

Front wheel should be the same for ZX9R C1/2 and ZX6R F1/3 both take the same bearing 6004, the ZX6RG1 onwards takes the same bearing as the ZX9RE1 etc 6005, spindle sizes changed from 20mm to 25mm, the later wheel will fit the earlier forks with a bearing swap to a 6204 but the earlier wheel cannot be used on the later forks as there is no bearing avalable to do it with. The discs are interchangable between wheels, either 296mm 300mm or 320mm all have the same bolt spacing and offset.

Or, see what wheels off a later ZX6r or ZX10r could be adapted to fit - newer. lighter, wheels always help handling  It'll generally only be a case of bearings and spacers (wheels and discs/calipers) .... nothing is impossible if you know someone with a machine-shop

So the zx6 f models are a direct fit without any mods?
As i plan to sell the bike once its up and running, im after a decent colour matching ones that'll go with the blue of the bike, which dont pop up that often on ebay(for the right price  ) hence seeing if the 6R's fit too.If not ill mix and match a pair and repaint em or something...hmm polished rims?

Thanks jam, as always you are the font of all knowledge

Before buying more wheels, are you sure that they're not repairable?
I posted on a similar thread further down the page recently, have a read and give Dave East a call, he'll be back from the TT now 8)

Rears a tad out of round on the rim which im not too fussed about, but the front took helluva smack and has bent the rim out and warped the wheel.
Even if i could get it repaired i think id be too worried about structural integrity after that!

Cheers anyway scotty 8)
