The annoying thing about all of this is that (unless I'm mistaken?) there has been no official announcement made to confirm it is going to happen in 2021. It's just that a consultation report published in 2020 suggested it should happen towards the end of 2021, and the media seems to have jumped on that.

I imagine our fuel usage has dropped a fair amount thanks to covid, and with other priorities for the government to focus on right now there is every chance this won't happen for a while yet.

Ok.. looks like it's going to happen in September as it's been officially announced now.

Does anyone know which Somerset Esso garage selling Synergy Supreme+ 99 Ethanol free is closest to the Devon border?
I have just purchased a 1972 Honda XL250 Trail bike and assume I need to run it on Ethanol free, unless someone knows different? Also do I need a lead additive? I have read that this is a myth and unnecessary. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

You won't need lead additive. As your tank is metal I would just replace your fuel pipes for modern equivalent if needed. Maybe get a rebuild kit for your petcock.

Another good practise is to drain the carb when the bike is being put away. Most carbs have a drain screw on the side so it's really easy. Fuel tap off, open the float bowl drain and aim the drain hose into a suitable pot or jam jar.

I can't do that on mine as it has no drain screw so instead I turn the fuel tap off as I'm getting close to home with the aim of having it stall out on the drive way.

You have no proof of that and I'd thank you to keep your blasphemy off this forum.

I was referring to the Moose.

I know yours live in a climate controlled bubble and only appear 6 days of the year.
