So yeah as thread title says, the engine cut-out for the side stand doesnt seem to be working and I'm not sure why, the wire going to the gear box from the stand seems to be OK, so does anybody have any ideas on what the problem could be? MOT is on Tuesday & this is a fail isn't it?
Cheers

No it isn't an MOT fail, unless the bike dies with the stand up and in gear when you let the clutch out. Just snip the two wires going into the sidestand switch and then join them together, and that will bypass the switch.

Last time that happened to me I just lagged the switch mechanism with contact cleaner and pushed it in and out and it sorted it!

I bought a new switch for about £8 from flee bay, when mine broke. As Jam said, if you short the 2 wires to make the bike think the side stand is up and that stops the kill switch cutting in, then it should be the rotary switch. If you don't want to cut the wire, unplug it and use a paper clip. You may be able to take the switch apart and give it a clean if you can be bothered, probably end up loosing the tiny little springs though.

It doesnt work at all and it wasnt an MOT fail so I'm happy to leave it be for now.
