Just wanted to show off my self made front fork tools in action over the christmas break

There is a certain amount of satisfaction when your home made stuff actually works

What's your seal driver made from, apart from the exhaust brackets. Nice job, it's bloody great when homemade stuff works and at a fraction of the cost of the tools from shops

It was made from a solid bar of mild steel, about 5" long

i have to admit i didn't do the lathe work, but by one the mechanics who are on our little work estate,( we swap skills instead of cash ;) ) but it was cut down to a mil or so under the seals outer diameter for the drive head, and the inside diameter was cut out to 2mm oversize on the stantion diameter so i can put a thin sheet of rubber between the driver and the stantion.The exhaust bracket saddles are spot welded in place so they can't slip, then the whole thing is reamed up nice and tight on the stantion, which you use as the slide to drive the seals home. It worked really well and only took three or four decent thumps to slide the seal home.

oddly enough I have subsequently made a compressor like yours, but don't have photo's of it

Like the use of a ratchet strap though ;) simple solutions are always the best

Its a pain for me at the moment though because I can't weld so i have to prepare everything ready for my friend to weld. I'm promising myself I'm going to learn this year, but finding the time is impossible
