Remove gear lever?

Post by Kookas »

Hi, I've got half my GS in bits trying to change both sprockets and the chain but can't get this lever off. Undid the bolt and it moves on the spline but won't actually come off. The spline itself would rather move than let me take the lever off. Any ideas? Cheers

Have you removed the bolt completely or just loosened it?
As some are a pinch bolt, and some actually run the bolt in a channel on the splinew shafts

If it still refuses to budge with the bolt out jam a screwdriver in the slot and open the splines a bit it should slide off then

The important part is "a bit". I have snapped a clamp by overdoing it!
