Apparently the oil pump is pumping the oil to the res tank but it's not flowing out again

Is there a pressure release valve or one way valve in the reserve tank to the engine?

Are you sure there is no pressure is manual pressure gauge or just working on the oil light?

I'd say to check the anti-drain back valve that is at the top of the pipe that connects to the bottom of the oil tank.

Check its' screen isn't blocked and also that the valve isn't jammed.

Also check the oil screen on the opposite side of the engine to the filter.

How so?

If the sump oil had been drained beforehand, and the fresh oil isn't getting into the engine. How is oil being returned back to the oil tank?
The new oil must be getting through surely, or the engine would quickly become dry?

He put bike over on a angle & put 1/2 a litre in through the filter & put the cover back on it pulled that oil up to the res then looses pressure again , the check valve seems free & clean today he's been to our local bike garage checked everything again no luck took the pipe off the res & gravity feed the pump through a funnel all worked fine put back together will only keep pressure above 2k going to try a new check valve tomorrow to see if it is restricting the flow in some way ..

He hasn't taken the pipes off the resivour has he??
If so there isn't any way he has put the pipes on the wrong way round or anything?

Usually it can be something simple

Update , Mike came here tonight to have another go he spoke to a ktm tec today he said take the guts out of the check valve and try it when we putting it together oil started leaking from the bottom of the res (no check valve) he had put a new jubalea clip on because it didn't feel tight enough and it was to heavy and didn't seal tight and was sucking a bit of air so wasn't drawing enough to open the check valve result perfect
You said it would be something simple ruffian
Thanks for all sugestions people !!!
