Doomed

Post by MellowYellow »

Just changed the battery.

Veto alarm not sounding, re-align doesn't work and bike is immobilised.

Lights work, but that's about all.

Anybody have the knowledge please.

did you disconnect the alarm before refitting the battery? if not, you could have spiked the board.

Have had the bike 5 yrs with no problems. Had the battery in and out several times, no problem.

It's b****y cold out there, and working with wiring and 2 mm allen keys takes it toll.

Wisdom seems to be to strip out the internal battery, disconnect the in-line fuse and unplug the motherboard. Leave over night and re-assemble.

Full removal is way beyond me and costly at a pro's.

Know how to by pass it which I will attempt if today's machinations fail.

Is there a mechanical method of dis-arming the alarm like on Data-Tool:

Ignition on, indicators flash 'x' number of times, ign off, ign back on 'x' flashes, ign off etc.

Presuming you know your special flash number code - but if never set, may be able to use default code.

Once you've opened up the loom it will make perfect sense. It either brakes or earth's the circuits.
What bike is it?

Thx for the replies. I think that I have the answer. (No way am I going to open up the loom - scary man !)

Tried the hot-wire jobby, and when I reconnected the battery, the alarm went wild. It also turned off with the fob...

Went for a start and it turned over then the battery gave up the ghost.

Seems the battery is b******d. Showing 13v but drains with one use of the starter motor.

New battery en route, fingers crossed.

Wow - gert proper customer service.

Cheerful knowledgeable and efficient chap answered the 0800 number (website was playing up) even offered a cheaper option.

Battery arrived this morning within 20 hrs of picking up the 'phone.

Couldn't attack it yesterday as there was rain and wind.

So - removed the failed attempt at by-passing, fitted new battery, replaced internal battery and in-line fuse.

Fob worked, indicators flashed, alarm bleeped and dash-board lit up when ignition turned on. Starer motor leapt into life...but it wouldn't fire.

Left it 30 mins and it healed itself. Started immediately and seems purrrrrfect.

Taken a couple of years off my life, but happy as Larry now.

Will open a really nice bottle tonight.
