Speedo (Infamy yet again)

Post by MellowYellow »

Went in for a new front this morning. When I rode out, the speedo was not functioning.

Took it back, and they had the wheel off and refitted the sender twice. Still not working.

This is stand-alone mechanical system, all others are electronic off the gearbox.

They say it was re-fitted correctly so there is nothing they can do. Same tale at the front desk (Protyre).

Discuss.

They broke it, they fix it,

Or pay for it to be fixed.

No ! Not going to touch it in case they then blame me !!

Was there for 2.5 hours and was causing me health probs. Needed to sit down for a while before emailing their head office.

The drive is mechanical at the wheel, which then plugs into the instrument panel loom and gets digitalised.

Seems obvious, but they are denying any blame. They say that the sender was properly re-fitted and they have no further respsonsibility.

I had that on a Frazer once. The Speedo drive dogs weren't lined up to the wheel and snapped the plastic ring.
Bridge said I had to buy the whole drive £120 :^o but somehow Motorcycle City got me the ring for £25 from Yamaha :-bd . Don't take a genius to work that one out.

LIfe is difficult with no speedo.

Have an appointment after head office > customer services > area manager > branch manager. They want it for a day. Booked in on Thurs.

Right wrist is in plaster, as have rides on Sunday and Monday.

Suggest you get microfiche diagram for them. They don't make people management on technical ability any more . It's all about sloping shoulders these days.
