MCE Insurance has folded.

As anyone with a current MCE motorcycle inurance policy will know, they have been in administartion since last November, have today (12/01/2022) ceased trading, and all existing policyholders will cease to be covered at 23:59 hrs on Monday 31st January 2022.

As, like everyone else who's with them, my MCE policy is on the scrapheap from 31st Janury, I decided to go with Bikesure from that date. Bikesure is an Adrian Flux subsiduary. I used A.F. many moons ago when I was in a kit car phase - of which enough said . . . . .

They (Bikesure) operate a real world service system e.g. you can telephone and speak to a real live person with a british accent who knows what they're talking about. I don't like to recommend things like insurance companies because what suits me might well not suit others; but I have to say the bloke I spoke to had decent bike knowledge and was happy to answer and explain in full any and all questions.
Have a good look at all the comparison websites by all means but give Bikesure a good look too. You might be surprised. I was.

I've used bikesure for a few years. They keep coming back competitively each year (but sometimes need a call). Good service but a £30 charge if you change something later.

We have all our bikes with BeMoto. The guys that run it used to be a big noise in Bikesure and are quite similar. I feel they have the advantage of not charging for alterations or bike changes. , Which suits us.

Bikesure are great they were the only insurer to insure my bikes including my H2 for under 500 other insurers wanted more than a 1000 so worth a go.

My bike is with BeMoto, and although I haven’t needed to claim (thankfully!), they do seem to know what they’re on about and you can speak to a real human when you need to. So much better than Ebike et al…..

I tried The Bike Insurer for comparison.
They are still offering policies with MCE at £138 but the next cheapest was Devitt at £240!
Then they put a massive list of companies that wouldn't quote. Maybe something to do with declaring the modifications?

As per Billinom8s I would recommend a call into Bennett’s I went to them after finding out MCE were cheap but had a huge excess on polices and also had a rule to replace back to standard spec. Which is great if your bike is standard but at the time had a Gixxer with a lot of modifications. Bennett’s covered them all and not that much more expensive with also options for helmet and leathers cover, break down, legal cover etc all part of the policy. Worth checking out.

I've ended up with Bikesure purely because they bought out the people I was with. I'm really not a fan of Adrian Flux, but didn't realise they were part of the group til the paperwork came through. The person I spoke to on the phone seemed good though.
TL & MV on same policy, reasonable excess (£250, I think?), and not unreasonable premium (circa £225). TL the awkward one to insure due to the number of mods. MV wasn't an issue. I was going to ring around at last renewal to see if any better deals but forgot and let it roll over .....

Give Bikesure (Adrian Flux) a bell Andy, I found them very reasonable, and they're apparantly very flexible on any mod's.

Tried Bikesure but they were expensive in comparison. Bennetts wouldn't cover me because I deliver parcels for a living - but not on a frigging bike, so God knows what that's got to do with it.
Interestingly MCE gave me a quote with their new underwriters for about the same price I paid back in October. But looking in to it, they don't pay out for any modifications even though they will provide cover for the bike. Had a chat with Bemoto and they've done cover for £170, which is £40 more than MCE but includes clothing cover and personal accident cover for a higher amount, plus full RAC cover.

To be fair, I would stay away from MCE....even with the new underwriters.
