Me with a big bike

Post by Stinky »

Say If I were to somehow afford a nice bike such as a R1 or GSXR1000, at my age (17), how much would my insurance cost me? I would obvouisly put it down to 33bhp and then bring it back up again , I just want to know the price about, without going though all the address and phone work. Thanks.

Well mate, the best quote I got on a GSX-R 1000 was just under £2000 :)
On a ZX-6R it's costing around £600, and I'm 19.

you need to get out and about training, get that upperbody traiing going (use your own body weight - pressups pullups more pull ups dips situps, jogging and more jogging and even more jogging with a bit of fartleg training (sprints)

anyway goodluck on your selection, if you mess up you could always join up get a trade and then do the all arms commando course at least with a trade you will have a qualification when you eventually leave.

by the way "airborne all the way"- the way to go

Ah sorry mate, was wondering what was going on there!

Funky, I've always found Bennetts to be sh*t and overpriced, that's the thing with most of these larger companies... awesome girls though!

I've always been with Aquote, they're really good!
I'm 19, I've had a claim YEARS ago (But they ask within the past 5 years) and I've been done speeding once, so I suppose that doesn't go well in my favour!

you would be uninsurable. so would have to ride it uninsured - this would probably be the least of your worries mind, teenage exhuberance and something that will do 0 to 150 in 11 seconds odd are very likely to leave you in a coffin.

I'm 19 and ride a GSXR1100 and I pay £335 per year for insurance with 2 years no claims and no restrictions.

You be better off getting a 400/600 and having it 33bhp restricted and taking out the restrictor washers straight after they have gone in.

You will have full power and a legal (on paperwork) machine. Insurers will be happy, in case of a producer Police will be happy.. and your happy with a bike that'll hit 150mph and look cool..

What more could you want at 17?! :D

P.S - This is VERY ILLEGAL.. please dont have a serious accident, or you will go way down for it... oh yeh, and dont get caught doing more than 90mph.

50cc to 1000cc. More chance of dieing on your bike than in the Marines.

Nah.. your brain controls the throttle, and the bike doesnt ride you.

If you want to ride a litre bike just be careful and takes some getting used to from a 50cc, if you want to ride an R1 about at the speed limit then do it..

I jumped from 50cc to 400cc then didnt ride for 7 months and jumped onto an 1100cc.. You'll be fine.

If you can get through military, then you should have enough disapline to ride a motorbike.
