Look in here for local ride outs...

Forum rules
You are of course welcome along to any Southwestbikers rideout, however your bike must be in good mechanical order (we don’t want anything falling off of it including you), taxed and have a current MOT. You must have a valid motorcycle licence and current motor insurance. You are in charge of your motorcycle at all times and SWB will not accept any responsibility for actions you take or any accidents you may have. Always ride within your own capabilities and do not put others at risk. Remember, while you are on a Southwestbikers rideout you are representing the site and what it stands for.
Thank-you.

Don't forget......ANYONE can organise and run a rideout.

Can recommend this hotel in Carcassone

https://www.hotel-destroiscouronnes.com/en/

great location (a bit tricky to get to mind!) with a secure underground car park, for eating we found the restaurants inside the castle a bit "samey" after a few days, if you cross the pedestrian bridge from this hotel it leads to a nice street leading up to the castle, the restaurants along this street were excellent.

Well, it's your choice of course, but firstly I'd avoid the autoroutes if you "want to see France", and if you really want to use them then consider going down via the A75 "Meridienne" ....... Choosing the A20/A62 instead is like choosing the M4 from Swindon to Bristol over the A39 Atlantic Coast highway ....... Plus you get to go over the Millau ..... And the Autoroute from there to the med (at Beziers) is simply stupendous (as is most of the bit before).

Otherwise, Carcassonne is a stunning place. Find somewhere in the old city (citadelle) if you can. Can't recommend anywhere as we stayed in a village about 20 miles south.
Had a lopk. Going via bridge froom ridersrest to carcassone makes it about a 5.5 hour ride. Prob too much for my poor pillion. Might see if i can move hotel dates around... :-)

It's the Rue du Pont Vieux, directly opposite the front of the hotel is a stone pedestrian bridge that leads straight onto this road and then up to the castle.

Pics below show the bridge etc, the hotel is directly behind me

Kata - if you find a hotel, pit down with google maps and street view and investigate the area from the comfort of your own screen.

Also, that 5.5 hr ride doesn't have to be in one hit does it? Ride for a bit, coffee, ride, food, ride, coffee etc.

Break it up and enjoy the scenery. Apparently it how you're supposed to do over there.

Thanks for the Comments guys and the pep talk Billinom8s. :-)

Actually staying at the Hotel Du Pont Vieux but that's at 32 Rue Trivalle, 11000 Carcassonne, so that's confusing.

Nice hotel Jonesy!
