Zummerzet ride - SUNDAY APRIL 29th

Post by ptolemyx »

A few posts on the Cobweb ride thread talk about p'raps visiting north Somerset for a ride out. How about a Sat 21st, Sat 28th or Sun 29th of this month (April)?

Could perhaps include this bit from Burrington? https://goo.gl/maps/71oajzJ7xfK2

Yup, sounds good.
You've avoided Cheddar Gorge itself though, was that intentional?

The gorge is not one of my favourite bits.

Salt & Malt on the lake is a good refreshment venue.
Have you noticed that anyone going slower than you is an idiot, and anyone going faster is a maniac ?

I think the whole area is pretty good for biking. Trouble with the iconic Gorge is you'll be very lucky not to be stuck in tourist traffic and the tourist trap Cheddar village is to be avoided at all costs, unless you fancy the ironic chic of trinketsville. For "canyon" riding Burrington Combe is where it's at IMHO.
I can't do Sunday 22nd so is Sunday 29th okay?

Sounds good, I'll do the Gorge another time then, probably when I have the mrs on the back.
All dates are fine with me btw, no preference either way.

Could do both...Brockley Combe & Burrington. Lovely in the dry nasty in the wet.
