You are of course welcome along to any Southwestbikers rideout, however your bike must be in good mechanical order (we don’t want anything falling off of it including you), taxed and have a current MOT. You must have a valid motorcycle licence and current motor insurance. You are in charge of your motorcycle at all times and SWB will not accept any responsibility for actions you take or any accidents you may have. Always ride within your own capabilities and do not put others at risk. Remember, while you are on a Southwestbikers rideout you are representing the site and what it stands for.
Thank-you.

Four Counties Rideout - Sunday 28th October

Post by Robbo87 »

Four Counties Rideout - Sunday 28th October. Re-scheduled from 14th Oct'.

Here's the sp folks, cunningly cut, pasted and edited from my earlier post:

This ride will be in two parts:

PART 1 - approx' 105 miles.
Leave Honiton Tesco Filling Station at 0830 hrs SHARP (they open for fuel at 0700 hrs) - Address: Battishorne Way, Honiton EX14 2XD - https://www.google.co.uk/maps/place/Hon ... -3.2021852

Brunch stop, approx' 1100 hrs: Mere, Wiltshire BA12 6FE - https://www.google.co.uk/maps/place/Hil ... -2.2886539

PART 2 - approx' 130 miles.
Finish Honiton Garage EX14 1BQ at approx' 1600 hrs for de-brief/fuel/coffee/tall stories etc. etc - https://www.google.co.uk/maps/place/Hon ... -3.2062072

Notes:
1. The rideout will be weather dependant. If it looks dodgy (again!) I will make a provisional decision on Saturday 27th around 2100 hrs and a final call on Sunday morning at 0630hrs - here on this topic, so if you're in any doubt, keep checking in.

2. The full route is approx' 235 miles and consists of (a) good small A roads, (b) some B roads (no green lanes/farm tracks, honest!) and (c) a small amount of 'Trunk A road - nothing boring. Pace will be 'making progress' but sensible; no heroics please, my old Fut will complain if forced to work too hard - and so will I, I'm retired don't forget :D .

3. I will have the full route for inspection on the day so that riders can decide where/if they want to leave the ride for home. Having said that, I reserve the right to amend the route as neccessary in the interests of (a) safety and (b) convenience.

4. We will be using the tried, tested and fully approved 'drop off' system; it worked well on the Dirty Dozen jaunt so let's do it again - he of the Ptolymex pursuasion will be TEC/Sweeper-upper and collector of 'interesting lines through corners' anecdotes (for later embarrasment duties) - - - - thanks in advance Brian.

5. Fuel and coffee stops/leg stretches etc. could be any or all of the following, as required: Gillingham - 95 miles.
Willoughby Hedge - 115 miles. Barford St Martin - 125 miles. Langport - 200 miles. Honiton Garage 235 miles. There are other filling stations and watering holes of course, if needed.

p.s. No problem with any last-minute riders, just turn up, there's no numbers limit on this one - the more the merrier; just copy & paste and add your name to the list . . . . . . ..

Don't forget to adjust your sundials.
Have you noticed that anyone going slower than you is an idiot, and anyone going faster is a maniac ?

Right folks, the forecast for tomorrow is looking good. If not exactly scorchio it's going to be dry and settled (so sayeth the Beeb weather site & others) . . . so it's definately on :-bd

A coupla notes: 1 - I'll have a precis of the route to hand out in the morning so riders can decide where, when and if they want to peel off en route for home. 2 - If road conditions dictate it, I'll make an executive decision to alter the route slightly, it'll still be a full day out though and we won't be straying far from the set route. 3 - Don't forget the clocks go back at 0200 hrs on Sunday, that extra hour in bed might come in handy :D .

See you tomorow :D :D
