Just had the heads up on a bike meet at Cartgate services on the A303 this MONDAY THE 16TH, from 1830 hrs. Might be of interest to anyone from the Yeovil/mid-Somerset area - or anyone else.
Might slope out that way myself to see what those pesky Somerset foreigners are up to. If anyone from east of the Shire fancies joining me for the run up let me know - leave early enough and we can take some twisties in

How about making more of a ride of it?
Mid afternoon set off, tiffin at Portland Bill cafe, back roads up to Cartgage services.

Whoops - got it wrong

. Cartgate's bike night is every MONDAY from 1830 hrs, sorry folks!
Rich' - your idea of a pre-Cartgate bimble appeals, work something out route-wise from your area next Monday (16th) and I'll join you, it'll give me a chance to flatten out Yarcombe bends

Been there with a couple of more northern brigades.
Easy parking, great facilities and good grub at reasonable ££ with a smile.
Have you noticed that anyone going slower than you is an idiot, and anyone going faster is a maniac ?

Thanks Mr M.

Sounds good enough reasons to give it a go then

. It all sounds a bit staid for Scorcher's tastes though

I'm not a site moderator so don't think I can amend the title to read Monday 16th.
. . . . . .except for the above sub-heading I see!

! Anyway, I hope you all get the drift . . . . . . .

I've scratched out a bit of a route from Chard, out into the sticks, down to Portland Bill for a cuppa and to take in the view, then back up country to the bike meet.
To do the above & get to the meet at 18:30 we'll need to leave Chard at 14:30 - any good?
Or we could do the the standard run through Bridport, coast road across to Weymouth/Portland, and then head up country - shaves about 20 mins off the time...
Could even give PB a miss and do something else instead.
What do you think??

My indecision is final!
You're so lucky being able to bugger off on a bike in the day.

I know it looks like that, but I paid for it all in advance by working for the man most of my life (and for 20 years, me also) without much in the way of me-time; so I now look on midweek daytime rides as a well-earned entitlement - still gotta do the 'W' thing sometimes though!

Sounds just like a plan to me - and a good one

. What about meeting at Wetherspoons Chard (the old Cerdic Cinema) at 1400 hrs for a coffee and a final route conflab?
Anyone else fancy an early weekday run
