Motorbike Show At the NEC

Post by menzies3032 »

Went up to the motorbike show at the weekend and have to say really enjoyed it. Went looking to sit on middle weight naked’s and got to do that with loads of choices including the brand new BMW f900r which looks really nice.

Also a bit of a shocker was trying on the Kawasaki’s ZX636 which looks like the bike I am going to be hiring this year from Smallboys and what a great riding position. Could really lock into the tank well and the handle bars are in a very comfy position.

Did you go what did you enjoy?

Took the GoPro so will put a vid up on YouTube at some point. Got to meet some familia faces. Walked passed Scott Reading and Neil Hodgson and got the have a chat with Tommy Bridewell from BSB which was cool. The new Ducati street fighter looks a beast as does the Kawasaki H2 street fighter. To powerful for me.....

Was a good show

Went there last Monday and Tuesday - loads to see.
Wanted to ride as many machines as possible in the ride out section. Last time I went was able to ride 4 machines each day. This time only one each day such was the competition to grab a ride.
I'm looking for a middleweight and tried the Royal Enfield interceptor 650cc - quite good - smooth engine, vibe free in fact so good I must have thought it was a jap engine because I ran out of revs, and it cut out on me. Once used to the lower revs it was fine.
The following day I had a ride on a Honda 500X - nice engine went well, commanding position, I could easily see myself on it but the slow speed running was poor. Typical on/off of injection machines and not conjucive for an adventure machine .
Inside the show area there was small offroad circuit where I was able to try a 700cc Yamaha Tenere. Very tall machine which I was concentrating not falling off. No problems with the engine. I was knackered after 10 minutes of muddy circuits though.

I havn't found a machine which betters so many points of the Bandit, but I would like a lighter machine at times.

All the bigger engined machines were the same weight as mine and that was without the addons that we all seem acquire.

Mine with topbox full and maximum fuel weighs 244 kgs

Does that include the additional weight of the patented Acme Auto-fill visor wipe receptacle? :D .

Yup---- all up weight including tools, puncture repair kit, compressor, water, maps, tow rope. Tow rope??????
On second thoughts I might take the tow rope out ---- when does the Bandit need a tow?

Back on topic I enjoyed the show. There were lots of bikes at car prices, and more if you wanted.
Equally you could see middleweights at five grand where I'm looking.

Nice looking bike, that and the F900 XR but I was disappointing to read that BMW are having the engines made in China.
It'll be interesting to see how that goes...
