went out for a forest bimble.....

Post by billinom8s »

today with Tractorwackyracer and the somerset trf up in Dunster woods.

A well organised bunch, some fun tracks, lots of mud, bit of hill climbing, a lot of puddles and only a few trees to bounce off of.

The new (to me) bike went well, a couple of setup tweaks later and it went even better.
Home now and aching like a b'stard.

I did a trf day with mark also at dunster a few years back
Proved how unfit I was and was hurting after.

It's a good fun cheap and relatively harmless (only slow speed stuff) hobby.

It's cracking fun and did enjoy it, did want to keep going but found finances running a little tight with the other toys also.

The arms did hurt, today EVERYTHING aches. For a first time doing this they coped ok, towards the end of the day I was struggling to hold on to the bars but I'm sure that will get easier.

It's funny to not be too concerned when the bike is skipping, slipping, sliding, bucking and twitching under you. If it was doing the same thing on the road I'd already be through the hedge and into a wall.

Plus going out and riding in the wet and mud is half the fun - so I'm told.

Well done Billi.

I did an STRF forest track day a few years back and found it to be very good and well run event.

I'm hoping to be out on mine once more in road trim (wheels and gearing) and the knobblies are going on..., and the pain begins.
I'll have that very scary 30 mins until your brains adjusts again to the bike sliding around underneath you. After that you can enjoy the day.
The weather is great right now too, not raining, not freezing but the ground is nice and wet (and slippy).

Yep, there was plenty of slipping and sliding, locking up the rear wheel etc to assist with corners. Naughty fun.

Am out again with them on saturday doing some lanes up by chew valley reservoir
