Knight rider
Hi All
After a gorgeous sunny day today I just had to get out on the bike and took a trip from Teignmouth to WestBay and back again. However as I did not set off until 5:30 it was dark when I started to ride home. And………
I really enjoyed the night time riding and was well impressed with how good the headlight is on the bike and has made me think about doing more riding in the dark.
How about you? Do you like riding at night? If I sorted out a night ride would you be interested?

Nah... been there done that.
I've had bikes with great headlights and bikes who's aren't so great... neither make for a comparable experience to riding in any flavour of day light.
Some times I am out much later than expected and thus have to ride home in the dark, or even worse twilight and although its ok it's not as much fun, and you tend to get covered in flies and/or moths.

Re: Knight rider
I'm not over keen on night time riding. Driving to work at 4.30am is like going through an abbatoir at times, such is the amount of fresh roadkill. Wouldn't fancy hitting a badger or fox on a bike. I've had a stag jump onto the bonnet of a BMW I had once at the top of Telegraph Hill and if I was on the bike I don't think I'd be here now.
That said, I've been on fish and chip runs that result in a ride back from Barnstaple at 8pm, so most of it was in the dark. Luckily one of my mates has the navigational abilities of a bat, so I followed his tail light for guidance. I'd rather do an early start to be honest.

Re: Knight rider
Ride thousands of miles in the early hours, quite ofter in heavy rain so probaly do more dark hours than light.

I prefer riding later at night in the dark rather than early evening.

Re: Knight rider
For a journey with a purpose, ie to go somewhere or return, I'll happily ride in the dark. A blast to/from a ferry/event/pub can be great fun.
To go for a rideout type ride? Not sure I can see a point ...... you don't get views/scenery, you only see the puddle of light ahead rather than the long winding road, etc, etc. Plus in rural areas you greatly increase your chances of finding unexpected wildlife or road conditions with much less time to (safely) react
I view it a bit like riding in the rain - if you have to do it for a reason, it's tolerable, but I wouldn't set off for the sole purpose of doing it ....

Of all the things I have ever lost, I miss my mind the most .....
