The trouble with wet roads is they hide the potholes.

That sounds like quite a lot to be dealing with - here’s to some dry roads and cake research next year :)

With the right bike, water filled potholes can be quite fun........ You ever been to Davidstow airfield in the winter? My 1190 resembled a CRF250 for a while!

Back to the OP- do try to get involved and organise a ride out. These guys are a friendly bunch and won't take the piss if you get something slightly wrong or different to what they would do. The last one I led involved a detour that wasn't planned and involved some dodgy lanes but I'm still here to tell the tale! And you'll certainly widen your knowledge of decent roads if nothing else!
KTM 1190ADV - sold
KTM 790ADV - sold
KTM 790 Duke - current
Honda CB300R - can I get any smaller 🙄
