A US Apache helicopter, shooting journalists & children!

Post by Sixth Gear »

WikiLeaks has released a classified US military video depicting the indiscriminate slaying of over a dozen people in the Iraqi suburb of New Baghdad -- including two Reuters news staff.

This is very disturbing footage and should only be viewed by adults who are not easily upset. I'm not joking this is horrendous and shocking!

You know, I have written and deleted several responses to this thread since seeing it last night, and I still can't think of a properly fitting one know.

Of course, with us all being bikers we are all so qualified to comment... Aren't we... ???

we've all been there... Haven't we ???

we would of waited for him to fire that RPG at us... Wouldn't we... ???

we wouldn't be wound up by seeing our comrades getting killed every day... would we... ???

we wouldn't be suffering from any type of war syndrome... Would we... ???

we would sleep soundly in our beds knowing we've maybe made a mistake and killed or injured kids... Wouldn't we... ???

War... ??? they should send in us bikers... we're all experts by the sounds of things...

Haha Nick, you can see in the video that they're not carrying RPGs. I would expect someone with combat experrience to be able to know the difference. Much like many burger flippers know the difference between a big mac and a whopper.

Whats the excuse for shooting a van that was helping the injured?

I'm restraining my real views on the whole thing, but then I know a few people know my real views.

Serious misjudgements made by the US personnel to one side, comments like "Nice" (for shooting a dozen people dead) and "I think I just ran a body over!" then finding that humorous  ...... if these soldiers are suffering from any kind of 'war syndrome' then I question their ability to carry out their tasks with clear thinking and making sound judgements :|

I think the footage evoked strong feeling from most of us. I’m with Funky and Smiler trying not to go off on one, but f**k it, I was appalled by the pilot’s poor judgement, the laughter and self congratulations made me feel sick. If it was a battle then surely those on the ground would have been hiding behind a wall or inside a building not walking casually in full view of an American attack helicopter.

- You don’t need to work for social services to know that the torture and death of ‘Baby P’ was wrong, likewise you don’t need to have been to Sand Hurst to know the difference between an AK47 and a Canon EOS. Who's next women with handbags, a man carrying a piece of timber on his shoulder?

- I accept the telephoto lens around the corner of the building could have been misconstrued as a RPG, but still it was a camera.

- I’m sure it must be awful to see your comrades die, but I doubt they were killed by Journalists or children.

- Pilots who are suffering from any syndrome or can kill innocent men, women or children without remorse shouldn’t be put in command of an Apache attack helicopter equipped with 30mm armour piercing rounds, and expected to make sound judgements.

I’m v.v.grateful to the military for risking their lives to protect us and our homeland, but if we’ve seen this footage then so have many of the Iraqi people. How will we ever win their confidence and support, without which the war is lost?

I would delete the thread.

You're all entitled to your opinion but its not going to change anything so point in writing an essay on a bikers forum here ...

Having worked with people that have served abroad, they said humour is a great way of hiding the harsh parts of war...

Lame thread.
