Blasts from the past

Post by Tvrv37 »

Got chatting with Billinom8s about old smokers. Because I'm old, probably have early onset dementia and defiantly a bit soft in the head I've finally found and purchased my RD250DX barn find. Like many of you we lost our biking virginity on these machines. Thought it would be nice to post some pics of early bikes we lost loved and maybe want back. This is not just for old two strokes but anything, kids scramblers, old thumpers whatever floated your boat. Anyway below is the inspiration for the thread.

Leading link, or Earle's forks, I think they are. Favoured by sidecars riders.

Right the first bike I owned was a TS100er. It was a heap but I didn't know any better.

For example didn't know that unlike a pedal bike, you had to tighten the chain, so it came off one night.

Had a K&N filter on it and with its fueling it was anyone's guess if it was going to accelerate or bog down.

One eve came out of a cross roads and hit a speeding car. Luckily I had two pairs of jeans on. ;-)

Pic is a TS, but not mine (unless someone restored it!)

I had an MT5 for my first bike, what a heap. First day out the exhaust blew a hole in the downpipe and I got a front puncture.

I moved on to a DT125lc but then stepped up to the big leagues.

Don’t have a photo of my 1st bike which was a Suzuki TS50X but do have a photo of my 2nd bike which was a Honda MTX125. Remember being a total head case riding this bike and absolutely no concern for my safety what so ever...... how things have changed.
