Xbox problem

Post by R6 STU »

When playing a new game I bought the screen started to go yellow, then blues.
Now I cant get any picture at all, just a blue screen.
I get sound with it though and i sounds like it's working just no picture.

I've tried a different tv and a different av cable but still no luck.

I bought it second hand about a year ago and dont know how old it was from then!

Any ideas?

Sounds like the graphics card has given up the ghost, don't know if its built into them or a replaceable item. But i did find a fix or two involving a towel and making it overheat until it cuts out then switch it off and restart and apparently it should be fine, can't quite see how it works unless it overheats and does a total reset as a built in safety feature and restarts the video. Anyway here is the link

Sounds like a easy fix BUT you are then stressing all the electronic components and increase the probability of premature failure of other parts. If item is under warranty then send it back. Better still if its under 3 years old then claim it has red ring of death then use the MS red ring of death sending back details on the web.

As far as they/you are concerned it had a red ring of death when you sent it back, I would expect them to carry out checks to ensure its working and repair any faults found. Just don't mention anything about the other fault. Ahmmm.

£60 sound better than the skip...... Considering the ARCADE now costs £130.

What you will find is that you have a dry Joint on the PCB , all you have done by overheating the device is caused the pins or solder to expand pluggin the hole for now...

Ok so now I have another problem.
the xbox was sent off to be fixed and came back a week later, it has now started to play up again,
playing forza motorsport at the moment and it wont load the races, just freezes, and sometimes when i do get to play the cars dont have wheels on, you can just see the disc brakes!
Very strange

what to do?

Send it back again as its still not right, the repair might be under some warranty or other, much easier playing games on a PC, fault finding and upgrades are a piece of piss...

Atleast you don't have to spend hundreds of pounds every year or so on new hardware to keep the Xbox updated :)

Send it back again, clearly not right.
