Sorry to hear that Simon. Quite a few people I know who were furloughed are now being told they are no longer required. Do you think you could find enough bike work to make a go of it on your own, I'm sure plenty on here would use your services.

Oh no
That’s utterly shite, I hope you back into work very quickly
I’m still furloughed with a promise of 3 weeks work in August in the hope it goes full time

Sorry to hear that Simon. I think the only jobs that might be going at our place is nightshifts cleaning the trains if you want me to find out.

I don't think so, there are lots of bike garages in the area so people can before to pick and choose.

Fancy doing parcel delivery? You've got the van, which is halfway there. Hermes are always taking people on. I can ask the boss at our place if he could use another driver - may not be every day and you'd need to be vetted but we've got more than we can cope with ATM.
KTM 1190ADV - sold
KTM 790ADV - sold
KTM 790 Duke - current
Honda CB300R - can I get any smaller 🙄

You do for us as you're classed as a courier and are operating "For hire or reward".....but I reckon half of the Hermes drivers zooming round in Citroen Picasso's and beat up old vans only have Business use on their usual policy. Not strictly legal but usually enough to get you the job and I've never heard of anyone having their insurance company fail to pay out if they've been involved in a collision. If you have a prang nobody's going to be interested in what you're doing with the van, as long as you have cover in place.

Bit different with who I have a contract with - they ask for evidence of Haulage cover, Goods in Transit and public liability regularly.

You just need to be a moron. Can't imagine that there is any 'vetting' with Hermes.

I've had 2 recent deliveries from them. One was left in the wheelie bin which was collected the next morning.

The other fellow knocked, and when I opened the front door, he was standing on the doorstep, about 2 feet from my face. He had no mask, no gloves, and immediately started talking at me. I slammed the door and shouted for him to move away. He threw (yes, threw) the package on the ground and got back in his old / dirty van.

STOP RIGHT THERE! Before doing anything like delivery driving, watch the film Sorry We Missed You
