Cadwell Park 23rd August

Post by menzies3032 »

After the crappy situation in 2020 so far with my mother passing away and Covid 19 you have no idea how happy I was to be able to get back out on track and where better to do it then at Cadwell Park.

For your viewing pleasure I vlogged the day. As well as recorded every episode. Check out this vid which was the vlog of the day.

Good blog account Rob, seemed like you had a good day. Braking for Park was impressive, did you see much more of the mobile chicane in the white leathers? It's a long hike for a single day... when I lived in Leicester it was only 100 miles from door to paddock, 2 hours towing a caravan, less in the van alone and even then I preferred a 2-dayer if possible. After moving South to Newbury I only ever went for 2 days at a time, and my lap record for the homeward journey was 2hrs 45mins in a T5 van. Happy days, but I don't really miss it any more, and since a COVID-forced lay-off I definitely can't afford it!

Oooooo Scotty Forced lay off is really not good. Feeling for you buddy and hope that you find something that can put some funds back in your pocket.

Being in advanced group there was not really anybody who was slow and had more coming past me then I was passing (need to get gearing right was in to high gear coming out of corners) but yes did pass the guy in the white leathers a few times throughout the day. But not a single red (or even yellow) flag all day. Got to say the brakes on the ZX636  :80: bloody amazing they were the standard Nissin calipers but were better then most Brembo's I have used.

For a few years now I have been hiring track bikes from "Small Boys" and this really changes things as I don't have to prep anything just what I where when i am riding in the boot and go. Due to benefits from where I currently work (I am very very lucky) getting there and back costs me nothing so it makes even a 4 / 5 hour trip home after a track day doable when in the comfort of a car. I tend to not do double headers for this reason just incase of bad weather or incase I fall off and need equipment repairs before the next one.

For me it works and I enjoy it.
