Mallory, Friday 15th September.
Anyone else going? I've just booked the last place in inters, but still several places left in the fast group. I would have preferred novice, cos I's old and slow, but no places left.
At least there are garages, so no excuses for not riding if it's raining.

Re: Mallory, Friday 15th September.
I will be there early. Camping (in van) on site, and protected from any wind there may be. Unlike Pembrey! And I will be dry throughout the day. Also unlike Pembrey.
I picked this day because the 5 day Met Office forecast came up as promising. Again unlike Pembrey.
At least at Mallory I know which gear to be in for every bend. I would prefer Cadwell, but it's way too far from Plymouth; the other possibility would have been Brands Indy, which I love, but this came up first.
I just checked, only fast group left on 1st October anyway.

Link road? Nobody told me that!
But anyway, Cadwell sells out quite quickly; I am back to waiting for a weather forecast before booking.

You might want to check the definition of irony. It's not the same as sarcasm.Scotty wrote:Irony is wasted on some people, Simon
Anyway, I got to Mallory about 4pm, and the nice security guys gave me a key to a garage so I unloaded everything in the evening and set up the bike. I was the only one there for the night; I had to sign a disclaimer, promising not to swim in the lake, among other things! Lovely weather, a heron came down to fish, beautiful sunset, etc. But a cold night, I only just kept warm enough.
At 6am others started to arrive, but no garages open until 7, except mine! I got myself dropped into the novice group, as I had wished, but to be honest inters would have been just as good for me.
And it started raining at 9am, of course! Did the sighting laps on the dry tyres and pulled in, no fun at all. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qFsfPhV88Ek&t=2s" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Cheap camera so not high quality, I'm afraid.
Spent an hour changing to wets, so of course the track dried! Did 2 sessions on wets in the dry, which was interesting, to say the least. The front was fine, but the rear was squirming out of Gerrards, and nearly had me off out of Edwina's! https://youtu.be/9COYCQsS834" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
I didn't think to clean the lens, so there are still water drops on it! Doh!
During lunch I put the dry tyres back on, got one really good session, and guess what? It started raining again! No video this time, I think the battery ran out. So I gave up and packed up. 10 hours driving for less than 1 hour on track, but I'm getting better at changing wheels, and it was an improvement on Pembrey!
Maybe I'll see if I can sneak in to the 1st October trackday.
