Mallory Park Experiance

Hi All

On Sunday I went to Mallory park and have to say that it left me a little flat..... so thought that I would do a write up for others.
I think to be totally honest i was expecting a bit much from the track. Recently I have been going a bit upmarket and have been going to the more posh tracks that have great pit areas and support spectators a lot better (Cadwell Park / Oulten Park) than the more basic tracks that are all about the track and don't think much about spectators.

The main reason that this was important to me this time round was my wife and daughter came with me for the first time and I wanted them to have a great experience as well as me. Mallory does not really support this. When you arrive you drive in to the pit area which is in the middle of the track and then you cant drive back out again until lunch time (but you can walk). Once your in the middle there is a toilet block which are very basic and there are a very minimal amount of pit garages if your one of the lucky ones to get into one other then that your on a gravel or tarmaced area. There is a cafe with a TV but it is very over priced and very limited so unless your family is really into watching everybody on track all day then they are going to run out of things to do rather quickly.

I think my real issue with Mallory is why go there when you can go to Pembrey.
Pembrey is closer
Pembrey is similar in the track design (hair pins and straights but no big right hand corner)
Pembrey has the paddock in the middle of the track
Pembrey is about the same price as Mallory (give or take £10)
Pembrey has very little in the pit area other then toilets or a cafe
Pembrey does not really cater for spectators.

However if your looking for great tracks, that work for spectators and have a lot for your family then I would suggest you go to Oulton Park, Brands Hatch, Silverstone or even Cadwell Park. but.......... you will pay extra for the privilege.

Mallory to me is dalek blob things, wall on the hairpin and tarmac, sky, tarmac, sky, tarmac, sky....ouch
Once you’ve been to Oulton Park and Cadwell you’ve been spoilt! Hence why I keep going back to those.
Good to tick new tracks off the list though
Try Anglesey, a 2 day event is well worth the drive there and great place for spectators both for the track and sea right by circuit.

Shammy I have to say I totally agree. Totally spoiled. Once you have rented from Small Boys (bike hire) and gone to places like Cadwell, Oulten, Silverstone, Brands, Bedford (basically all the MSV owned tracks) why go anywhere else????

Well after me banging on about how bad it was I have now uploaded all my videos to you tube and had more of a look at what I got up to and have to say looking at the sessions through the middle of the day i had some cracking battles trying to catch and overtake people. It seemed like there were quite a lot of bikes in the group but somehow never to the point that they were getting in the way more to the point that there was a target in front to try and overtake.
