We're going regardless (booked 3-day tickets for £60 with the OMCC) - the Valeban will be out in possibly bigger numbers than usual, and no doubt they'll be firing their bile and vitriol at MM93 - basically they hate anyone who can consistently beat their idol, in the past it was directed at CS27 and JL99, but only MM93 remains of the former party-poopers. Their odious football fan mentality, mainly fuelled by similarly jingoistic idiots at More Crap than News, appears blind to the reality that there are normally at least a dozen or so riders beating him in most races nowadays. As long as MM93 doesn't win, these morons are happy. I read last year that MCN were acknowledging that VR46's final day would come along at some stage, and they were promoting FQ20 as his successor in the fanboi market, while actually writing that MM93 was "the man in the black hat" - can you believe this sh!te? Is there not enough on-line hatred in the world of the keyboard warrior without a national publication stirring up even more?
I was a VR46 supporter in years gone by, but he torpedoed that with the absurd accusations he made at the Sepang Press Conference in 2015, that MM93 was actively trying to help JL99 to win the championship (in a race where MM93 actually beat JL99 - I'm not sure how that actually counts as helping him win, but I'm happy for any of the similarly judgement-challenged Valeban to enlighten me).
I acknowledge his achievements both on track and across the wider scope of the entire MotoGP world, and I'll applaud him off track at Silverstone, but life goes on.
