Jay Oulton Pk R4 Race report.

Post by Jay »

Defo a round to forget..... lol

CTR2 R4 Race Report.

Well a weekend of mixed emotions for Andrew Turton & Jay Floyd..... Friday test went well with both riders on their first visit to Oulton park putting in times which were improving as the morning went on in the dry sessions......
Then the rain came for the qualifying sessions... They both went out for the Sprint qualifying session, Andy qualified P22 and Jay qualified P24 within 0.5 seconds apart..... then came the Endurance qualifying and Jay put in the quickest time putting them P27 on the grid for the endurance race on Saturday.
They woke up to what was a very wet Oulton park ready for Saturday race day.....
Sprint race one,Andy and Jay has a good battle and Jay had a good start making up a few spots on the start.... Andy and Jay has a good battle during race 1 only for Jay to lose the back end coming out of lodge corner in very wet conditions, Andy finished 14th.
Andy decided to sit out sprint race 2 to prepare for the 3hr Endurance later in the day. Meanwhile Jay and members of CTR1 were frantically trying to repair his bike for the endurance race.... A massive thanks to Nathan Jackson Stu, Liam Rogers for their efforts, spares and time to get Jay on the grid for the endurance start....
Jay started the Endurance race .... however disaster struck again as the bike overheated due to a damaged part from his off earlier in the sprints, Jay rolled into the pits after what was only 2 racing laps for Andy to take over..... Jay’s breakdown was terminal so Andy completed the rest of the race only stopping for fuel and a quick drink and then he was out again.... he finished in P30 in difficult conditions whilst improving his lap times lap by lap is a credit to him.
Yes it was a difficult weekend but we managed to pick up a few points so all is not lost.
The team will be back up to full strength next round at Snetterton with the return of Peter Metcalf after his holiday away.

Hope your bike isn't too badly cooked buddy,
Does sound like your still enjoying yourselves even through the tough times.

Unfortunately you have to take the rough with the smooth.

All part of the leaning curve unfortunately.

Jesus, so Andy did 2 laps of a 3 hour endurance by himself!!!
I'm ruined after 20 minutes. Fair play.
