idiots out there

A place where you can have a rant, vent your frustrations, blow off steam, shout off in a wrath of God style and then feel so much better about things.

It won't happen to me attitude of some people

I personally never ride without full protection it's not worth losing skin over.

I was in France back along one summer, and the bike cops were just wearing shirts. Read somewhere that their view is, if you get so hot you're losing concentration it's better to keep cool.

On the other hand, I'd never wear shorts. I can still remember the scrapes on my legs I had coming off years ago one winter when I was wearing two pairs of jeans to keep warm.

After a bit of a Google, the apparent formula is based upon this. The human body has only developed to travel at 25mph.

You will loose 1 mm of skin per 1 MPH over 30 MPH you are doing when it hits the tarmac.

Arrgh!! I was trying so hard to resist .........

So, Who's watched any of the Tour de France? Who rides a bicycle around town or in the forests? Who wears full leathers on their bicycles? (Jeez, it amazes me the amount of cyclists I see without a helmet even ...)

Whats the difference sub 30mph (i.e. in town)??

Each to their own, is my view. The next logical step is compulsory PPE. Then it'll have to be CE approved and fluoro and have air-bags ..... and the cost will rise exponentially ...... and everyone will be grumbling about how unfair it is, despite the fact they effectively asked for it ......
Of all the things I have ever lost, I miss my mind the most .....

Handle stressful situations like a dog - If you can't eat it or play with it, pee on it and walk away

Very true..... Friend of mine was doing a triathlon and came off the push bike section ended up in a&e..... But like us he knew the risk, just that he hasn't got a right had that can change everything so quickly.....
At the moment i m riding in textiles I have no confidence unless im in leathers and my bike must think what's going on as normally we flat out , but I see another bike/bike passes I up pace.... Increasing risk..... And if I was in Shorts I do t think my mentality would be different...
Each to there own but bit of common sense, nobody goes out to get hurt but surely its best to minimise risk.......
