Wet Portimao

Post by R6 STU »

Instead of traveling to Portugal for the sun I somehow ended up at Knockhill.

3 1/2 days of rain, but fear not, on went the wets, open pit lane. Loads of track time and a great way to learn the circuit.

First time 'properly' using wets and somehow only managed a few seconds quicker in the dry.

Couldn't get my head round Turns 11 and 12, lost so much time there and turn 15 was very pedestrian

Learning wets is awesome.
Feels so unnatural but so fun.

Portimao is a cracking circuit though isn't it.

Didn't think I would gel with it as I wasn't a massive fan of Oulton first time round. After 4 days I was buzzing.

Did a track day at Oulton Park not that long ago and was no that wet but was cold as well. Loads of red flags and got some proper twitches.

Not my bag give me some grippey track and some sun shine any day.

Good on ya for getting your knee down in the wet though.... result

Banging out consistent 2.14’s in the wet so happy enough with that.
When the sun came out is was carnage. Some people hadn’t ridden the whole weekend.

Problem with Oulton it gets red flagged for smallest of incidents due to lack of run off everywhere

I'm a 10° man in the wet. Contemplating both-feet-down as well.

Even on PR4s.

Puzzled. Your title says Portimao, your post says Knockhill, then people start talking about Oulton and Portimao ...... sounds like track outing with a lot of road miles =)) =))
