Good afternoon all

Post by f0zzy »

Just dropped by to say hello after joining the group today. I'm your atypical biker returning after a fallow period while the kids grew up and the wife still wanted me around to help. Now the kids are grown up and she's sick of the sight of me (especially after 3 months of lock down) I'm getting back into the game. Got one bike (spontaneous eBay purchase) and plans for another for some green laneing over the winter. Hope to become part of what appears to be an active community. I'm based near Yeovil, but don't hold that against me...

Hello and welcome ...... I have to say though, I'd be rather suspect of anyone from the Yeovil area  =))

Hi Steve & welcome

I'm a couple of villages over in Chard, and often ride out your way.
What bike did you get then?

Thanks for the welcome!

@Jug_Inspector - I picked up a CB550 cafe racer custom, that’s been mostly converted (I also wanted something I can tinker with over the winter) so still room for some personalisation.

I used to be a superbike rider (well a ZX7-r was a super bike when they were 750’s if you can remember then)... But I’d likely get carried away still thinking I could knee-down the A356...!

Does that exclude me from ride outs? :)

Welcome along, I use to love my zx7r, one of the best handling bikes I've ever ridden! Let us know when you get a dirty laning bike, great fun but depending if you done much before can be a steep learning curve over winter as added stress of being cold/wet and every rock is 20x more slippery, either way keep us posted. Cheers

Hiya from Exmoor. Next ride out (making good progress pace, not snail slow nor stupid kneedown nonsense) is 6th September starting at Honiton and picking up in Wellington....

Thank you for the ride out offers, both sound ideal. I'm looking to get an EXC-F 350 for laneing and maybe some longer adventure rides, I'm scouring eBay at the moment, seems a fair amount of supply.

Now I just have to blow the dust off my lids, gloves etc. The Dianese two piece was donated to a nephew when I had to admit it was a bit "too tight"....

@Dan_RR - you're right about the 7r front end, was amazing. Shame the thing weighed as much as a blue whale!! Although having the rock solid front end meant I could ride around people on track days...
