I'm Curt from Bristol - don't currently ride but eagerly awaiting this virus to shift its ar*e so I can get booked in for my direct access hopefully before the summer... :-s

I'm undecided however I'm leaning towards something like the KTM 390 Duke.

However open to suggestions - need it for commuting into the office (Bristol city centre) but also be comfortable for some weekend riding around with mates.

I'd look at something like the MT07 as a first Bike.

Fun to ride, easy to run, comfy, fast enough, cheap to insure.
