Hi from Perranporth

Post by Strummer »

Hi bikers, old fart alert.
I got knocked off my bike twenty years ago and it has sat in the barn ever since. Being bored during this lockdown thingy I've tried to find things to do and I spied the rusty twisted wreck. My wife bought me a new frame, no not walking frame, and I've spent the last while tarting it back up.
Have just got it going again and sitting astride brough back so many memories of the Martin Jennings runs, etc.
I doubt I will ever ride again, shortage of bottle, but you never know I might venture out sometime.
Antway thanks for indulging a biking lurker.
Nev.

hi there Nev, welcome to the forum and back to the roads.

i believe it's the law that after bringing a steed back from the brink that you have to ride it again and again and again and again.
There are plenty of bike nights these days that you can bimble along to and enjoy.
You may not ride as fast as you think you used to (none of us do) but at least you'll still be out there doing it.

Nev, we have friends on here over 70 who regularly come on ride outs. As a young 66 year old "greyone" I urge you to come out to play and I'm not alone in wanting to see you and your Z1000ST in the flesh.

That looks a lovely machine; you certainly chose an attractive colour and even has crash bars to save the paint. Ride it while you still can as later when you're really old, you'll rue the day, when you did have the opportunity. That's my pennyworth on life.

Firstly - welcome to SWB. Secondly - what all the above said.
I'd like to add that 'bottle' is not required, just a desire to do it. As Roy (a fellow 'Greyone') said, if you don't get out there you will rue that decision for ever.

Hi Nev.. your bike looks very clean, almost too clean actually.. needs a few fly splats on it I think.
Get out on it and post up piccies.. or come out on a run.
Biking is in the blood, no sense denying yourself the pleasure.

Hi Nev
Welcome to SWB great to have you with us. Wow that looks like some restoration, having turned that bike back into a thing of beauty you can just leave it in the garage. Would be great to see you on the roads should a few of us could come and join you for a bimble.

Either way welcome and have fun.

Hi Nev, welcome to SWB, I'm based in truro.
Take a look in the rideout section for the Cornish bimble.
