Bodywork Modifications - Exhaust Pipe

Post by Rob4 »

Hi, does anyone know a bodywork place that can shorten exhaust pipes? I've got a cafe racer where the silencers run almost right to the back of the rear tyre, but would like them to finish closer to the centre of the bike/more under the foot pegs.

Thanks, Rob

Where about are you? That might help people ......

How about a pair of reverse cone mega's and just shorten the downpipes back to where you want them? Thats what I did on a Morini I used to own. You may need to adjust fuelling slightly afterwards.

Sorry, I'm in Exeter. Probably a very useful piece of information haha..

Haven't considered shorter cones, but that could be a much easier option to cutting back the pipes. I shall look into that, thanks!

There should be a balance pipe between the two down pipes just to the rear of the sump, under the gearbox. You should be able to cut the pipes somewhere after that, then use a pair of shorty mega's and "bobs your uncle"

I shall have a look into picking up some reverse shorty mega's then, possibly matte black! How easy is it to reduce the down pipes? Or would it be worth getting it done professionally to save a potential mess?
