Relay Riders UK.

Post by Andy900 »

Hi all, quite a gap in the Devon and Cornwall areas, have a look, taken from the FB page.

Hi and welcome to all our members, riders and supporters, from everyone at Relay Riders UK
What are we doing?
We are creating a charity relay where a mascot is passed from rider to rider continuously traveling through the days and nights touring all the UK.
With all proceeds raised going to our chosen charity Soldiers Off The Street.
In 2016 we rode for 14 days and nights for Nationwide Association of Blood Bikers raising £10,010
And in 2015 we all rode together over 8 days and nights for Friends of PICU raising raising £2,500
Let's make this years even bigger and longer.
HOW THE MOTORCYCLE RELAY WORKS:
• A mascot (usually a cuddly toy) will be carried by volunteer motorcycle riders in order to raise funds for our nominated charity.
• The mascot is transferred from rider to rider at set handover points around the UK on a pre-set route.
• The relay is non-stop, so different legs of the journey will take place during the day and night until the mascot completes the final leg of the relay.
• In order to carry the mascot (& therefore guarantee that the relay will travel through your local area) you must register as a Relay Rider & pay a £5 riders fee as a donation to our nominated charity.
• All routes are 125cc friendly.
• Wherever possible it is our policy to ensure that all Relay Riders have support riders with them on their leg of the journey to ensure everyone's safety and as a back-up if you are unable to ride on the day for whatever reason.
• If you have agreed to take on a leg of the journey and are unable to do it PLEASE LET US KNOW ASAP so we can sort something out - this applies to both mascot carriers and support riders.
• At each handover point you will fill out the paperwork that accompanies the mascot, take a few photos and (most importantly) let a member of the Admin team know that you have arrived so that we can keep everyone up-to-date on the mascot's progress and adjust other riders handover times if necessary.
If you have ANY questions, don't hesitate to ask!!!
DATES

Routes for the relay have been created to where our riders are signed up in the UK
A fantastic way to meet new friends and fellow bikers suitable for all abilities. The route will go to the areas that the riders are in so the more willing to ride with us, the better and longer the relay will be.
Routes are created individually and you can choose how far you wish to ride for during the week of the relay. We are visiting many different areas during the relay so you can join in and finish anywhere in the UK.
FUNDRAISING
We all raise money together as one group, we will have a number of challenges going on throughout the year.
Rider fees, sponsorships and any fundraising money will be collected to the fundraising page which is a secure way to ensure all money goes direct to Soldiers Of The Street.
