After Chrimbo Meal

Post by ptolemyx »

Is it too early to start thinking about the SWB meal in the New Year?
Jane and I would prefer "normal" food instead of the BBQ sauce smothered stuff we had at the Smokehouse last time. Any other venues to consider peeps?

Have about we run the vote again but this time exclude the Smokehouse, as we already did that?

I'll throw the Saddlers Arms at Lympstone into the mix; easy to get to, plenty of parking and proper food - https://www.google.co.uk/maps/place/Lym ... -3.4165134

I know the ownersTim and Shantell and, depending on numbers, and as long as we get there between 1800 hrs and 1930 hrs they've told me they'll do a deal for us on Carvery, or Steak & Ale pie, or Fish pie, or Mushroom & Leek pie (for any veggies), with a pudding, for £11.00 p.p.
That's a pretty good deal in my book, but will depend on numbers.
Date-wise, I'm o.k. for any weekday evening except maybe a Friday (SWMBO often works then - someone has to fund my biking).

Saddlers Arms looks good for the usual pub grub. How about something a bit more "foodie"? I don't mean the Ritz, but a menu with some attractive meat and fish dishes would suit me. A good one we use a lot is the Stags Head at Filleigh near South Molton. Though that's probably I bit out of the way for a few of the gang. The menu is more extensive than what's on the blackboard:-

what about The Waterloo Cross near Cullompton?

We had a meet there a while back and the food was really nice. It's pretty easy to get to and central too.

Waterloo Cross is just off jcn27 of M5, that's the Tiverton/North Devon Link Road junction. We've had good pub grub there; the usual fare, nothing fancy. Any other potential venues folks :?:

Simon has handed his big stick to me for this......thanks mate :-J

Other suggestions for the venue please, chaps and chapesses :?:

We have in the mix:-
Saddlers Arms, Lympstone
Stags head, Filleigh
Waterloo Cross, Cullompton (just off M5 jcn27)

And dates, which Saturday in January :?:

After a bit of discussion I'll do the polls and hopefully we can get the venue, date and list of partygoers sorted before Chrimbo :ymparty: :ymparty: :ymparty:

Something to consider is to check that the venue can accomodate SWB as a whole, not all in small seperate and/or scattered groups - just my twopennyworth.
