speed itself is not the problem.

ever ridden on the Autobahns? I would say it is a million times safer than a stint around the M25.

But hang on isnt the Autobahn full of mercs, audis and beemers doing 150mph odd. yup, but there lane discipline is great, you generally dont get tail gaiting, people blindly switching lanes or stubbornly sitting in the outside lane when there is faster traffic approaching behind. They are more aware by a loooooong way.

the speedlimitless autobahns makes the germans far superior drivers to us. It really is noticeable.

You genuinely can do 180mph for short stints in relative safety.

I have sat on the autobahns probably averaging over 140 for the best part of 50 odd miles and It genuinely isnt dangerous if you just adjust to the germans way of driving/riding.

Its the weirdest thing in the world when your on your bike doing 140 odd and you have to pull over to let some old guy and his misses in their beemer cruise past.

you may have a point there Jonny - know someone who dumped their bike in torquay town centre through staring at some girls arse, and didnt notice the car in front stop until it was too late ....

Dont knock it, I was passed in my car at "cough cough" MPH speed a few weeks back by an old lady in a clapped out Morris Minor

gald its all ended up in a friendly way but its post like this that dont do bikers any help and also make you realise how stupid we are when out on the roads.

Sorry bud but i don't agree.

As i started this thread i was hoping to use it as a way to help the rest of us.

Ok we all have different ways and reasons for riding but at the end of the day we are all on 2 wheels and that is what matters

oh yeah most definetly,we've said that on speedys earlier thread too lol

but some people are sensible,some are down right stupid and most just wanna have fun which is what its all about. i used to ride with a few guys who thought they rode better after a few pints of cider, they didnt they just became more reckless and rode on false confidence but kept getting away with it which in turn made them do it more. i dont ride with them anymore as i value my life a bit more than a few glasses of apple juice lol

Ok but i didn't see anyone add that

1) Some riders are sensible

2) Some riders are down right stupid

3) Some just wanna have fun which its all about

4) Some who think they ride better after a few pints of cider

All this helps buddy.

I now know not to ride after a few pints of cider or apple juice as you put it.

Now what harm does that do???

Having looked at the title this thread is starting too stray.
Please bear a thought for all those who have recently lost a loved one in a bike accident and remember that each mile YOU ride is one more closer to having an accident.

no that was what i added afterwards to try and explain myself, im not great with words me. i was talimg about those that were saying i'll ride how the ehll i like and not worry about anybody else.

zx6r i think some of those reasons will explain why theres so many accidents.

peoples inabilities on a bike

false confidence maybe

bad bike maintenance in some cases

some are just downright unlucky

our symapthies do go out to those who have lost loved ones, this thread was started to stop hijacking threads that were serious.

Yes, sympathies to those who have lost loved ones, I think we all may well have, me included, but also to those who survived in one form or another.

Unlucky is always a factor. We had a smash many years ago at 20 miles an hour coming off a dual carriageway and lost the front wheel on some gravel. Mrs. Ab was on the back and she had a spiral fracture and nerve damage which has left her on crutches and in pain for hte rest of her life. No pressure, no fast pace or manic breaking, just slipped and that was that. Some times sh** just happens.
