Speeding Ticket
Muggins 'ere picked up a 'Notice of Intended Prosecution' for doing 40 in a 30 on the way back from the Combe. Sodding villages have a 30, then a 60, then a 20, then a 40, then a 50, then a 20, then a 60 and I'd not even done a mile! Friggin' passengers all had broken noses and blood smeared over the windscreen from all the stop/start crap.
Ok the latter is just rubbish. I'm just a bit bitter as I'm the slowest driver (and rider for that matter) the world has to offer.
Anyway, I have some questions. What is the fine/penalty point system for doing this speed in a 30? The notice doesn't say. I don't think its worth appealing unless someone knows of any loopholes in the system I can butt-rape?
Any info would be a great help.

when you recieve penalty notice send a cheque for £60.01. Adding the 1p will mean they aren't allowed to cash your cheque as it is more than the penalty notice. no cheque=no points. you gave them they're money just adding a little for their trouble ;) call it a tip!

I read this in Superbike a few years back but I think it was like thisSir SUKI wrote:when you recieve penalty notice send a cheque for £60.01. Send them a cheque for £60.01. They will send you a cheque back for the 1p. Burn it. They can't prosicute you any further while they owe you money
The other thing that I thought of is if they used a gun can they prove there was no 'slipage'? Occures to me that you see them going on about walls doing 50 on the tele all the time.

Well I am afraid you get no sympathy for that here - and indeed you should not have been let off.
And ys, I am entitled to say that as someone who has been rear-ended
Barely a day go's past without some moron causing an accident at that junction - usually due to lack of sufficient attention or excessive speed (it is only 40, not the 60 most people travel at there ........)
ANY speeding offence, you do the crime you pay the fine. YOU control the speed you travel at. It's no point crying when you get pulled. If you can get of on a loop-hole it's exactly that. No different to any other criminal, from OJ simpson down .......
I fail to see how there can be ANY loop-hole for a red light camera - it was either red or it wasn't. You wouldn't be laughing if a car did it to you as you went through on your bike would you
Sorry for the rant, I don't even know you, but you struck a bit of a sore point point for me
Of all the things I have ever lost, I miss my mind the most .....

As it stands then you are probably looking at £60 and 3 points or thats what you would have probably got if stopped at the roadside. If you appeal and take it to court and are still found guilty then you have the court costs plus the costs for the officer attending court if it goes that far.
In your first paragraph you have stated that you picked up a NIP and then in a later paragraph you ask if the police have to send it through within 14 days. So the question is were you stopped at the roadside or not?
It may help clear a few things up.

So you'd rather people were looking at theirs speedo more so not paying atention to the road resulting in shunting someoneTLS-Moose wrote:[

People can sort of feel how fast they are with the ocasional glance at the speedo but with camaras you can't be sure so have to look at the speedo more just incase. I've been well within the limit and seen a camara and slamed on the brakes, just incase. Camaras are fecking dangerous.
But if you are guilty then you are but why should insurance companies make money from it. I'd rather pay a little more in a fine and not get the points and have the fine moey go towards road safety, bendy signs, zedbra crossings, etc.

Problem is with the 'pay the little more fine and no points option' is those with a little more money would never really be punished would they because a little fine (or even a massive fine) will mean absolutely nothing to them.
However after racking up a few points they might start to think about their actions on the road a little more.

I'm not saying that at all, and in fact in most cases agree totally re. speed camera's - what I AM saying is, everyone knows the speed limits. Most people choose to exceed them. It seems somewhat hypocritical to knowingly break the law, and then cry about getting caught.Mike Daytona600 wrote:So you'd rather people were looking at theirs speedo more so not paying atention to the road resulting in shunting someoneTLS-Moose wrote:[

It takes a pretty poorly fuelled bike not to be able to hold an even(ish) 30/40/50 (and they didn't come much worse fuelled as stock than a '97 TL ......
Yes, I have (in the past .... ) broken the speed limit, yes I have been punished for it (severely in one instance ....) Yes, I have also been let off licence losing incidents by "reasonable" traffic officers. I too have gon ethrough sections with a camera in it and suddenly thought "sh*t, what was I doing when I went through there
That doesn't get away from the fact you KNOWINGLY break the law when you open the throttle, and it seems a bit rich to cry about it afterwards if you do happen to get caught
Of all the things I have ever lost, I miss my mind the most .....

got to agree with you 100% there moose, we all speed but to different degrees. if you get caught you get caught accept the punishment at its earleist and move on.
dont ignore it as crowler did for over 6 months and end up in court with a £275 fine plus points cause someone told him not to respond to the NIP.
