Parking Ticket
I parked my bike in Plymouth on a wide bit of pavement by Subway in Plymouth near Abbey national, apparently I got a parking ticket (who gives a bike a parking ticket?? I wasn't obstructing anyone) and to make matters worse - someone nicked it and I have only found out by a letter telling me I need to pay extra!!!!

Oh dear, thats a bit harsh, I'd justy pay it, you should park on pavements anyway (though I do). Maybe if they gave a phone number with the letter call them and explain the situation.
personally I really don't agree with Just attaching tickets where anyone can nick them, surely there is a more reliable method? maybe a photo in the post of where your parked for how long?

I agree - i will pay it and try and get out of the extra - it just annoys me because I agree - I shouldn't park on the pavement, but if it hadn't been nicked then I would only have to pay half the amount!!
I'll phone them tomorrow and see what happens

i think the new parking ticket machines have in built cameras to prove the wardens are correct. still a bit crap if someone removed the ticket for a laugh though.

Exeter is the same - no parking on pavements allowed, as it obstructs the footways for visually challenged people (yet cycles can ...... )
However, there is you can park on pay & display areas without paying, so long as you are sensible and "fill gaps" rather than take up a whole space.
We have great fun watching the (evil b'stard) clampers doing their evil works outside work (private area alongside main street with public pay & display)

Of all the things I have ever lost, I miss my mind the most .....

I saw about it on baylifs. People were getting tickets on their screens but not paying by 2 weeks so had to pay more. Problem is is that the letter to tell you you've had a ticket doesn't come until after 2 weeks
so if some git nicks the one off the screen your screwed.
Like you say tell them you're willing to pay the fine but not the extra and if they get shirty ask them if they can prove it was stuck there in the first place.

never paid for a parking ticket, had many
Traffic wardens and Police are modern day bandits, the only difference is that in the good old days' the highway men wore a mask and put a gun to your head so that you were under no illusion you were being robbed!!!

I used to work at a bike shop in London that had a dispensation allowing them to park a row of bikes out front, the wardens were always trying to catch us out.
On one occasion a warden ticketed a bike that was not illegally parked and the boss just laid him out, one right hook to the temple, no conversation - nothing! I couldn't believe it, just walked off very quickly in the other direction. Boss got arrested and when it went to court got off on account of the bike being parked legally and him being diabetic and unable to control his temper due to his condition.

***Parking Tickets and Traffic Wardens***
Like it , like his style . Dont get me started on those faceless penpushers , who got nothing better to do than to knick us bikers !! . May they get loads of grapes from their mums visiting them in hospital , after they have been decked again ! . Told you not to get me started , lol .Bladerunner wrote:I used to work at a bike shop in London that had a dispensation allowing them to park a row of bikes out front, the wardens were always trying to catch us out.
