tyre choice
alot of us ride or have ridden different bikes it would be nice to here what tyres go best on which bike from the people that live with them from day to day, rather than the tests in the mags that only seem to test the tyre on the track. (ie)

I ride a ZXR750 and so far I've only used Bridgestone bt010's. I've not had a single 'momment' with them in the wet or dry, in fact, they are superb in the dry and inspire confidence.

I was recently on a RoSPA ride on a frosty sunday morning and the two guys I was with complained their bikes were moving around alot but mine felt planted and safe.
I'm toying with idea of a change to Dunlop D207's next because there are some good 'pair' deals around at present, a friend used them on a GSXR750 and he was quite happy with their performance.
I probably don't ride hard enough to push my tyres to the limits of their grip, eg I usually get between 4 and 5 thousand miles out of a back tyre but on a nice sunny day I'll get to the edges no probs

I'm currently running Avon Azaros II AV45/46 on my SV650S.
I'm quite happy with them and they turn-in a lot better than the previous OE Metzelers.
I don't ride the bike in the wet much although I have had a few "moments" when it has been wet.
They've lasted 4500 miles so far but only got about another 1000 left in them. Did mostly 2 up riding last year so don't know if this causes them to wear quicker?
Not sure wether to get another pair or try Brigestone BT020 when I change them this year.
Probably comes down to deals/prices at the time.

in resonse. if u have never had a moment in the wet or dry with the bridgestone, y on earth wold u consider changeing to the 207s. u get good milage,good in the wet and dry, it sounds like u have foud the tyre that suits your bike and riding style. i would stick with what uve got.
the avons have a rep for being bad in the wet, lots of people i know with azaros complain about them being slippy. i have had the same experiance when i had my cbr1000, but i was impressed with how quick the heated up. the previous tyres on my 1000(mich pilot road) took forever to warm up and lasted a whole 3000 miles(not happy)

i currently have metzeler mez4's on my sv.these are the same make of tyres that came with my bike.i would not reccomend them to my worst enemy.
i have had numerous scary moments with the back end kicking out following mates who have had no problems with their tyres.
i came from plymouth the other day,pretty much flat out to torquay,pulled over and my tyres were still freezing compared to my mates dunlops which were nice and warm.i will definately be changing them when they get low.

My bike came out of the wooden box with Pirelli Dragon (I think that's what they're called)
Didn't really get a chance to try these out properly, got a puncture after 281 miles
, so the engine wasn't even worn in at that point...
They don't do these from the shelf anymore so I have a Pirelli Diablo on the rear, which although I've not tried anyothers, I can't knock these as I've never had any problems with them
I must admit if you're braking at 120mph going into a corner and change down a gear on a wet road, they do tend to giggle about abit
Although I think that giggling about in that in that situation was very good.... I think some bikes would have lost it...
Damn roads, there wasn't a corner there last I went that way...

Yep, sound advice. The only reasons for change would be the fact I've never tried the Dunlops and the price. I'll never know if the Dunlops suit the bike better unless I try them. But now I'll probably stick with the Bridgestones.....AAAAAAAAAAAAAARGH!! Anyway, I won't have to make choice till late summer cos' I've only recently had a rear tyre fitted

I've had a few sets of 020s on my gixxer and also have never had a moment and I get to some silly lean angles sometimes, I would say I get about 5000 miles from the rear. Last year however I picked up a discounted set of 207s, they were ok once there was a bit of heat in them but only lasted 3000 miles.

Got Dunlop D220's on my SV from new, don't rate them. bike tends to stand up big style under brakeing, never really feels secure and I've only got 3000k out of the rear at it will need replacing soon, despite winter commuting only. I might be a bit throttle happy on the straight bits, but the rear is real squared off!
Not recommended as a touring tyre (or anything really, except maybe hanging over the side of a fishing boat!!)

got Pilot Mich's on my SV, haven't really had the chance to test them to the edge but they are a touring tyre, so long lasting.

I had BT012s (not the SS) on the CBR. They survived a track day and about 3000 road miles throughout the winter, and there's still loads of tread left on them. I was thinking about moving on to Diablo Corsas afterwards, but then I got knocked off, so that's the end of that story.
I had Michelin Pilot Sports on the RVF and they were confidence inspiring, but didn't seem to last very long...
Currently got BT010s on the R1...although I can't really tell the difference between them and the 012s on the CBR...

Had Michelin Pilots on my Duke 600, didnt have the bike long enough and wasnt experienced enough to comment. Had BT010's on my ZX6R and also on my Daytona, I had fantastic confidence in them, loved the lean angles I could get and never had a single moment with them at all. Now on my Hornet I have Michelin Pilots again and just cant ride it like I could with BT010's. Trouble is these Michelins are a touring tyre, long lasting and brand new. Means Ive got to live with them for a while or do a few burn outs. Avon tread pattern looks great but havnt tried them...the local dealer refuses to repair any Avon tyre!

try some pirelli diablo tyres i'm running one on the rear and i am very impressed with it ( had tyre right over to tyre wall after 5 miles) get plenty of feel out of it. have a mich pilot on front and thats a good tyre but its on last legs now and will be fitting a diablo corsa in its place
