The One Stop over the road from the New Tesco's is owned by Tesco's anyway and will be closed by Tesco's. Monopoly anyone? The Tesco build was halted by a counsellor when he saw the fuel tanks being dug up as the convenant states that the sale would only be agreed if the new premises included a fuel station and since a fuss was kicked up, Tesco suddenly announced that they dug them up to fit larger ones!! This appears to be happening so there should be fuel in Teingmouth once again!! (Hopefully all night pumps like in Newton as I'm sure I'm not the only one who's bike ran out of fuel 5 minutes after closing time and got pushed home!!)
WTF? Me? Never...Well, .... Maybe, but ME?

I can see this happening near where i live. We have lost 2 petrol staions. A BP and a Texaco. Apparently Tesco have bought one of the lands and are opening a small store there but there is a big issue over the old tanks as the promise was when they closed down the old site the new store would have pumps up and running for fuel. But they closed the site originally because of poor sales.

Considering how most people you speek to in Teignmouth feel about the co ops, the sales side of it won't be a problem!!!!!
As far as it being a s$@t hole, you must have been in the wrong bit? Quiet, peaceful and friendly in my bit!

Hi

I'm in Hermosa road as well.

I've been here for well over 20 years and all I can say is the people are freindly and there are some great pubs when I can remember them !!

Also we don't get inundated with Grockels, as it is more of a day trippers place unlike Torquay, which I can't stand as I have only been out there on an evening twice and got banged up both times for fighting with bouncers on the doors of their pubs. Also the breakfast in Torbay nick is crap too !!

And both times the bouncers started on us first - Honest

Later

I don't bother going out at night into town now, one of my mates tried to seperate a fight and for his troubles got kicked to the ground and then a boot in the head with 23 stitches so for me its just more trouble than its worth :(

Very true, torquay sucks, the pubs are gradually closing too, the hogs head will be gone soon and bar-med. I go out in newton so much better and more relaxed. Tend to go weatherspoons, cider bar, loci then farmer maybe. Plus you can get to the bar, don't have to pay as you go in and actually get a decent pint...all of which absent in torquay.

I think with all the teignmouth newbies coming in maybe a pub meet in teignmouth is in order...
