Do I need Insurance

Post by R6 STU »

I'm moving up to Cardiff in 3 weeks when my bike insurance is due.
I'm probably not going to be using it for most of this year as I will be keeping it at my Parents house.
Is there anyway of getting out paying for insurance or any schemes that do Fire and Theft at a good price. Most only do fully comp or cheaper for FC!!
Insurance is £285 for me fully comp but it's money I need really (plus service, car insurance, tyres and rent etc never helps)

Cheers

I know when i was shopping around the Policy Shop offered me TP F&T at a lot less than FC. I guess you would not need to have it insured it it is in a garage as its not on the highway. OK unless it gets nicked. :?

I might be wrong here, but can you not get a 'storage' type policy? I thought you could get something like this for classic car restorations etc, but dunno about bikes?

Sorry to be vague but may be worth looking into

Long as it's off road in ya garden you don't need insurance.(unless the law has changed)
Some house insurance policies will cover an off the road vehicle if requested, but check the clauses eg flammable liquids.

turns out I had my renewal through and it was only £250 FC
Better to be safe than sorry, plus I can still use it if I come down or want to take it to the Welsh Countryside!
I did a quote on bennetts TPFT, £233!!! FC was £380

I'm 99% sure No claims lasts for 2 years if you don't have insurance.
