hello and welcome
the fastest sports bike is safe to ride, as long as you don't use too much of the right hand !

Passed my theory test today with 50 out of 50 and 64 out of 77 for the hazard perception, so not bad at all.
Only 2 and a bit weeks to wait until my 'real' test. Been looking at a few alternative bikes to the originals I suggested, what are your opinions on the Kawasaki ER-6, 2005 model?

Just a quick update from me - I passed my test this morning - wooohoooo!!!!
Got 2 minors, but I'm very happy with the result. So now it's time to find a bike and get out on the road!

Re: Another newbie to the site saying hello
Congrats mate well done.
I would say the bandit hornet and fazer are better bikes than the er5, the r5 is not as powerfull either so it would make a good first bike.
But i would say get the bigger bike and just go easy.
I regret buying the bikes i have, wish id got something bigger. Iv been riding about a month.

Re: Another newbie to the site saying hello
hi mate good luck with the test
Re: Another newbie to the site saying hello
Test rode a Suzuki SV 650 and a Kawasaki ER6F this morning. The ER6F was not for me at all, it felt so small and I'm only 5ft 11.
The SV 650 was brilliant though, nice riding position, very torquey, comfortable. It's a 2003 bike and is the full fairing version.
Is there anything in particular I should be watching out for with these bikes? I noticed the fork seals were leaking but the dealer said they'd sort that. Any common faults with these bikes? It has no service history, should I be concerned about that?

Re: Another newbie to the site saying hello
well done on passing ur test mate.
i would avoid stuff without service histories if possible.
for the price you give just done a quick search on autotrader and come up with a few bikes.
for the hornet at taunton triumph cv piper on this site works there so if u were interested in the hornet give him a call and mention the site and see if u can do a deal

if my memory is correct mike daytona works for taylors so he would be the man to talk to about anything from there.

Re: Another newbie to the site saying hello
Welcome and congrats on the test mate. You wanna try a CCM 604rs as your first bike, just so happens I have one in the garage
. All the bikes you mention are top notch first bikes and will have more than enough power for a novice rider. When the weathers good i ride though Newton every morning so you may spot me
Cheers, Steve
Ex-ZX9R rider, ex-CCM 604RS now Benelli Tornado TRE and GS1150 ADV (so far so good)

Re: Another newbie to the site saying hello
The Hornet is a good bike to start on, it certainly doesn't lack in power when you've gained the confidence. & Its got a good smooth power curve that won't catch you out. They've got a tad more oomph than a Bandit or SVR, but then it all comes down to the rider using it...
