FRIENDLY RIDEOUT 2 - APRIL 13TH - CANCELLED

Look in here for local ride outs...

Forum rules
You are of course welcome along to any Southwestbikers rideout, however your bike must be in good mechanical order (we don’t want anything falling off of it including you), taxed and have a current MOT. You must have a valid motorcycle licence and current motor insurance. You are in charge of your motorcycle at all times and SWB will not accept any responsibility for actions you take or any accidents you may have. Always ride within your own capabilities and do not put others at risk. Remember, while you are on a Southwestbikers rideout you are representing the site and what it stands for.
Thank-you.

Don't forget......ANYONE can organise and run a rideout.

Why not let it happen and leave it up to the peoples to go or not go

Here, here Peter. I know I'm a noob on this forum, so you all don't know me, but I really do agree with Peter on this one. I for one am not put off by the weather so much (unless it turns into high winds and driving rain for hours at a time). That said, you should see the condition of my 8 month old F800 ST after this winters salt!

That's the other problem. Organising a ride out takes more skill and knowledge of routes etc. than I have. I always have respect for organisers of any event (biking or otherwise) as it can be a lot of hard work with often little thanks. Plus, should anything ever go wrong then they're the first to get the blame (rightly or wrongly).

Of course, I'll always be ready to help if I can.

Thanks for your company Blue, really enjoyed the ride, we were b lucky with the weather  Hopefully see you on the summer rideout (If that doesn't get cancelled  ).

For anyone interested we went from Cartgate services-Sherborne-Cern Abbas-Dorchester-Weymouth-Bridport-West Bay-then back to Sparkford and had a quick nose around Bike Safe being held at Haynes Motor Museum, unfortunately ran out of time and didn't get the chance to test ride a Ducati  or go for a supervised ride with the Police :( maybe another time.
Thanks also. Loads of fun scaring cycle recers  Why are they aloud to ride on the wrong side of the road on blind bends :?
Manage to avoid the rqain until I got to Ilminster then had a hail storm for about 5 miles, Dam hail hurts. after that clear sky and dry road all the way home in time to help build the shed :D
See you again soon 8)

People were pulling out left right and centre anyway, the weather could have been worse-then if it had gone ahead you could have had 50 or so wet miserable bikers moaning that someone should have had the bottle to call it off!
I think most on here appreciate your efforts and respect your decisions

was a good call by me Si - bearing in mind it was a friendly rideout for all abilities including smaller bikes and learners it wouldn't have been much fun for some if it had gone ahead and turned into a long haul in really wet, haily or windy conditions.

cheers for your efforts so far and looking forward to going on the rescheduled rideout

i aggree! it must take a lot of time and effort to plan one of these( and speaking on behalf of the less experienced members) i am greatfull that someone has the sense to tell us when it wouldn't be a good ride out!

in my oppionion, this doesn't stop others from organising a few people to still go out if they wish just like Blue and Fragmities did

Then I shall retract what I said

It looks like more people preferred it to be cancelled

And thats what this is a democratic board and long might it be so

The route you've planned Si sounds ace and I'm glad it was canceled cos couldn't come due to man flu (a nasty cold  ).

But ,just a sugestion, why don't you leave it until summer months due to the crappy weather we've had and do a shorter route for a friendly that doesn't envole the moors. That way if it does get crappy it's not for so long and people are more likely to risk it, and I'm sure the group could all pull over to put on waterproofs if needed. What do you recon?

Those that have to come from north cornwall and north devon have to cross the moors, so why change the route, some of us have do 50+ miles just to get to the starting point of this ride, sorry having a bad. Leave the route as is.

I'm not saying change it, I'm saying do it later in the year and do a different one in between.
